Want to romance Fenir in Alaris and get his Fairy Tale Ending? I put together this Fenir route guide to make the whole process easier, especially if you’re trying to raise his Affection Meter as much as possible.
There are quite a few choices throughout the game, but thankfully, not every conversation affects Fenir’s affection. Some choices only change your stats, while others can influence your ending or unlock achievements.
In this guide, I’ll go through the choices I used to reach 136% Affection with Fenir, along with the choices needed for the Fairy Tale Ending, the Tragic Ending, and several related achievements.
Alaris Walkthrough – Fairy Tale Ending, Tragic Ending
Alaris features Quick Time Events (QTEs), and they don’t all work the same way. Some can increase your Affection Meter if you make the correct choice, while others can affect your ending. There are also QTEs that don’t affect Fenir’s Affection Meter at all.
For this route, I focused on getting the maximum possible Affection with Fenir.
One important thing to know is that 136% Affection isn’t required for the Fairy Tale Ending. You have some room to make different choices based on your own preferences.
For maximum Fenir Affection, Bravery needs to be your primary stat. However, you can still get the Fairy Tale Ending with any of the other three stats as your highest.
Also, conversations through the communicator don’t seem to affect your stats or Fenir’s Affection Meter.
Best Personality Choices for Fenir
If you want to start the game with the best setup for Fenir’s route, choose these answers during the personality test:
- Protector
- Helplessness
- Freedom
- Tendency to self-sacrifice
- Courageous
Your name and gender choices are up to you and don’t matter for this route.
Chapter 1 Fenir Choices
Chapter 1 introduces you to Drakes, Gryphons, and a very cute Hydra. There are several choices here that can increase Fenir’s Affection.
Choose:
- “Dodge, and elbow their back” — Affection 17%
- Either answer — Affection 19%
- Either answer
The QTE in this section doesn’t affect Fenir’s Affection Meter.
The beverage choice also doesn’t affect Fenir’s Affection.
Next, choose:
- “I’m here to help.”
Free Time #1
For your first Free Time, go to:
- Market, Fenir — Affection 26%
Then choose:
- “What about this petunia?” — Affection 28%
- “Inspect it” — Affection 31%
That finishes the first major Fenir interaction.
Chapter 2 Fenir Choices
Continue with these choices in Chapter 2:
- “Distract me” — Affection 34%
- “Play it cool” — Affection 36%
- “Actually…”
- “Stay and wait” — Affection 40%
- “Change the conversation” — Affection 43%
Free Time #2
For your second Free Time, once again choose:
- Market, Fenir — Affection 50%
Then pick:
- “What about this petunia?” — Affection 53%
- “Fenir” — Affection 56%
- “Are you Fae?” — Affection 59%
After this, you can press Q to see Energy auras.
Continue with:
- “What do you want from me?” — Affection 62%
Chapter 3 Fenir Choices
Chapter 3 continues building your relationship with Fenir.
Choose:
- “Fenir” — Affection 66%
- “Point the starlight out to him” — Affection 68%
- “Answer our questions first.” — Affection 70%
- “Slap their hand away” — Affection 74%
Free Time #3
For the third Free Time, go to:
- Market, Fenir — Affection 81%
Then select:
- “What about this petunia?” — Affection 83%
After this, you’ve been kidnapped.
Choose:
- “Attack” — Affection 86%
- “You’re a coward” — Affection 89%
Complete the QTE by choosing “Channel that Energy!”
When the route selection appears, choose:
- Fenir — Affection 93%
And now you’re officially on Fenir’s route.
Fenir’s Route Choices
From here, most of the choices below are focused on maximizing Fenir’s Affection Meter.
There are also some more intimate moments along the route. Those choices are personal preference and don’t affect Fenir’s Affection, so you can choose whatever feels right for your playthrough.
For the affection-max route, choose:
- “Just ask him” — Affection 96%
- “Mention it out loud” — Affection 100%
- “Nah, I can stand” — Affection 103%
- “Tease him” — Affection 105%
- “What do you think, Fenir?” — Affection 108%
- “Tell me a story.” — Affection 112%
- “Agree without a fuss” — Affection 113%
- “Reach for the St. John’s wort” — Affection 117%
- “If you need any help let me know.” — Affection 119%
- Either choice
- Any beverage choice
- “Horror.” — Affection 122%
- Either choice
- “You can talk to me anytime, you know” — Affection 125%
- “Okay, I’ll walk with you.”
- “Ask him to stay”
- “Technically, I don’t need your permission.” — Affection 128%
- “Hold his hand”
Final Fenir Choices
Continue with the following:
- QTE: “I like you too” — Affection 132%
- Either choice
- “Hold his hand”
You’ll then reach an important QTE.
Choose:
- QTE: “Fenir, wait -!” — Affection 136%
This is the best place to save your game.
If you want to see the Tragic Ending and its achievement, reload this save and intentionally fail the timer on this QTE.
If you successfully complete the route, continue with:
- “Hug him back”
- “Kiss him”
You should then get Fenir’s Fairy Tale Ending.
How to Get Fenir’s Tragic Ending
If you want to see both endings without replaying the entire route, make a save at the “Fenir, wait -!” QTE.
From that save, fail the QTE timer.
This will take you toward the Tragic Ending and its associated achievement.
Afterward, you can reload the save, successfully complete the QTE, and continue with “Hug him back” and “Kiss him” to get the Fairy Tale Ending instead.
Fenir Route Affection Checklist
For a quick reference, the Affection milestones for the maximum route are:
- Chapter 1: 31%
- Chapter 2: 62%
- Chapter 3: 93%
- Fenir’s Route: 136%
Remember that you don’t actually need to reach 136% to get the Fairy Tale Ending. The high Affection route simply gives you the maximum Fenir Affection and makes it easier to keep track of the important choices.
Also, don’t worry too much about the choices marked as either option or personal preference. They don’t affect Fenir’s Affection Meter.
Final Tips for Fenir’s Route
If you’re going for Fenir’s route, I recommend setting up Bravery during the personality test and following the Affection choices above.
The three Market, Fenir Free Time choices are especially important, so make sure you don’t accidentally pick a different character during those sections.
Most importantly, save before the “Fenir, wait -!” QTE. That gives you an easy way to experience both the Fairy Tale and Tragic endings without having to replay the entire route.
