Far Far West Frostburn Update Guide – New Weapon, Locations

The first major update for Far Far West is here, and Frostburn adds a surprising amount of new content. From a brand-new region and ice magic to melee weapons, new map tools, and a dangerous volcanic island, there is plenty to check out.

If you’re jumping back into the game after launch, here’s a quick breakdown of everything important in the Frostburn update.

New Melee Weapons

Frostburn adds a brand-new melee weapon class, giving players more options for close-range combat.

The new weapons include:

  • Knuckle Dusters
  • Lasso
  • Banjo

Just like sidearms, these weapons can be infused with elemental magic. You can add effects such as fire, acid, and ice, allowing you to create different melee-focused builds.

The update also adds several new Jokers designed around melee combat. If you enjoy getting up close and personal with enemies, these additions give you plenty of new ways to build your character.

And if melee isn’t your thing, don’t worry. Frostburn also introduces plenty of other Jokers to experiment with.

Lighthouse Reveals Important Locations

Finding important locations such as the Printing Press can be frustrating, especially when you’re trying to put together a strong run.

Frostburn makes this much easier with the addition of the Lighthouse.

During your hunts, you can discover a Lighthouse and take it down. After defeating it, you’ll need to complete a short minigame.

Successfully completing the minigame reveals major Points of Interest (POIs) across the map.

This can reveal locations including:

  • Forge
  • Printing Press
  • Copy Machine

Instead of spending an entire run searching for these locations, you can now use the Lighthouse to make your exploration much more efficient.

Ice Magic Spells

One of the biggest additions in Frostburn is the new Ice spell type.

Ice magic focuses on both offense and support, giving you several different ways to help yourself and your team.

You can use Ice abilities to:

  • Damage enemies
  • Freeze enemies in place
  • Create bridges
  • Provide defensive support
  • Gain shields through certain abilities

The shield mechanics are especially interesting because they open the door to more dedicated tank and support builds.

If you prefer helping your teammates survive rather than simply maximizing damage, Ice magic gives you a new way to play.

Hellfire Region

The long-awaited Hellfire region has finally arrived.

This volcanic island had been teased since launch, and Frostburn finally lets players explore it.

However, Hellfire isn’t exactly a relaxing vacation destination.

The volcano can erupt during your exploration and send huge fireballs crashing down onto the battlefield, so you’ll need to watch your surroundings.

How to Unlock Hellfire

You can’t simply travel to Hellfire immediately.

First, you need to complete the new questline in the Jungle.

The quest takes you underground into dangerous dungeons filled with traps. As you progress, you’ll search for map pieces that eventually lead you toward Hellfire.

This new storyline is one of the more substantial additions in the Frostburn update, so it’s worth completing if you want to experience the new region properly.

New Uranium Currency

Frostburn also introduces Uranium, a new currency that you can earn during matches.

There are several ways to obtain it, including:

  • Defeating enemies
  • Completing side objectives
  • Completing quests

Uranium can then be used instead of gold at the Refinery and other locations.

This gives you another way to manage your resources during a run and can help you save some of your regular money for other purchases.

The Frostburn update gives Far Far West a substantial new layer of content.

The biggest additions include:

  • New melee weapons: Knuckle Dusters, Lasso, and Banjo
  • New Ice magic: Damage, freezing, bridges, and shields
  • New Jokers: More options for melee and other builds
  • Lighthouse: Reveals major POIs across the map
  • Hellfire: A dangerous new volcanic region
  • New Jungle questline: Leads you toward Hellfire
  • Uranium: A new in-match currency

If you’ve stepped away from Far Far West since launch, Frostburn gives you plenty of reasons to come back. The new melee system, Ice magic, and Hellfire region all add different ways to approach your runs, while the Lighthouse and Uranium systems make progression and exploration more flexible.
