This One Gun Guy Beginner Guide covers every secret area and all achievements in One Gun Guy. If you explore carefully, you can unlock most achievements during your first run. However, full completion requires at least two playthroughs: one on Normal difficulty and one on Hard.
One Gun Guy Beginner Guide -Achievements & Secret Areas
There are a total of 19 achievements in the game. Most of them are tied directly to secret areas, coin collection, and completion challenges. Finding all secret areas will naturally unlock the majority of achievements without extra grinding.
To fully complete the game, you must:
- Finish the game on Normal difficulty
- Finish the game on Hard difficulty
- Complete specific challenge runs such as no deaths and no hits
Secret Areas (All Locations Explained)
There are 10 secret areas in total. Only 9 of them grant achievements, but every secret contains rewards, so it is worth finding all of them.
Secret Area 1
At the very beginning of the game, go left instead of forward. Use a double jump to reach a hidden passage.
Secret Area 2
Shortly after starting, you will reach a platform where you can drop down below the screen. Jump down to access the secret.
Secret Area 3
Early in the level, you will encounter an area where the secret is located above the visible screen. Jump upward to find it.
Secret Area 4
Jump onto a raised platform, then continue upward and to the left to enter the hidden area.
Secret Area 5
Much later in the level, you will reach an elevator. Instead of riding it normally, jump underneath the screen to find the secret.
Secret Area 6
When you encounter four turrets firing at you, look beneath the area. Drop down to reach the secret zone.
Secret Area 7
After navigating through barrel-style jumps, you will be launched upward. From there, jump down and push right to enter a hidden passage.
Secret Area 8
Similar to Secret Area 4. From a specific platform, jump up and to the left to reach the hidden section.
Secret Area 9
During another barrel sequence, you will come to a pit. Drop into it to find the secret area below.
Secret Area 10
Just before the second car ride, there is a secret below. You must avoid landing in the car and move quickly. If you enter the car by mistake, finish the ride and backtrack to reach the secret.
Extra Hidden Spot (No Achievement)
Between Secret Areas 3 and 4, there is a small hidden platform with no rewards or achievements. It is tricky to reach but still counts as an optional discovery.
Achievements – Coin Collection
Four achievements are unlocked by collecting coins. These should naturally unlock during your first playthrough unless you deliberately avoid coins.
- Small change! – Collect 50 coins
- Lunch money! – Collect 150 coins
- Buy me dinner! – Collect 250 coins
- Five star dining! – Collect 500 coins
Moment of Greatness Achievement
- Moment of greatness!
This achievement unlocks when you power up four (possibly five) times in a row.
You gain a power-up by:
- Collecting 1 head
- Or collecting 100 coins
Possible power-ups include:
- Triple Shot – Fires multiple bullets
- Magnet – Automatically collects nearby coins
- Shield – Absorbs one hit and recharges after 20 seconds
- Halo – Allows you to survive one extra hit
If you already have all four power-ups and trigger another power-up, you become temporarily invincible.
Secret Area Achievements
Nine achievements are tied to discovering secret areas:
- Traveller
- Voyager
- Globetrotter
- Pioneer
- Rambler
- Explorer
- Discoverer
- Adventurer
- Scout
These unlock progressively as you find secrets.
Normal Difficulty Achievements
- I win!
Finish the game on Normal difficulty. - Immortal!
Finish the game on Normal difficulty without dying. - Elusive!
Finish the game on Normal difficulty without getting hit.
It is highly recommended to attempt Immortal and Elusive in the same run. Avoiding hits is more manageable than it initially appears.
Important mechanic to understand:
Taking a hit removes one piece of equipment. This is visually noticeable, such as losing your helmet first.
The Shield power-up is essential here.
- Blue shield means it is active
- Yellow shield means it absorbed a hit and is recharging
If the shield absorbs damage, it does not count as being hit. After 20 seconds, it reactivates.
Hard Difficulty Achievements
- I really win!
Finish the game on Hard difficulty.
Hard mode removes many safety mechanics:
- No power-ups
- No double jump
- One hit equals death
Checkpoints are extremely important and should be used strategically.
- Godly!
Finish the entire game on Hard difficulty without getting hit once.
Checkpoints do not help here. This must be completed in a single flawless run.
Exploring thoroughly and understanding power-up mechanics will significantly reduce difficulty. Secret areas not only help with achievements but also provide valuable resources that make later sections easier.
