The Prison map in Detective Duck looks intimidating at first, but once you understand the puzzle flow, everything connects cleanly. This guide walks you through every step, from the first tool pickup to identifying the correct suspect, without skipping any logic.
Step 1: Get the Grinding Tool
Start by heading upstairs.
You’ll find a cake sitting there. Click it, and underneath the cake you’ll uncover a grinding tool. This tool is required to break your way into the early prison area, so don’t miss it.
Use the grinding tool on the locked door nearby to open access to the next puzzle.
Step 2: Arrow Direction Puzzle → Keypad Code
Behind the door, you’ll find a poster with arrow directions. Write these down carefully in order:
Down → Right → Down → Right → Right → Down
Now equip your magnifying glass and inspect the nearby wall with markings. You’ll learn the conversion:
- Down = 1
- Right = 8
Convert the arrow sequence into numbers:
1 – 8 – 1 – 8 – 8 – 1
Final Code:
181881
Enter this code on the A3 keypad to unlock the cell.
Step 3: Plunger & Keycard
Inside the unlocked cell, you’ll need a plunger, but it’s not inside the cell.
Go back upstairs, this time to the left side, and pick up the plunger.
Return to the cell and use the plunger on the toilet to retrieve a keycard.
Use the keycard to unlock the cafeteria.
Step 4: Acidic Tomato Puzzle
Inside the cafeteria, collect four acidic tomatoes:
- One near the entrance
- One along the side
- One further inside
- One at the far end
Once all four are collected, head back upstairs to the right-side blender.
Place all four tomatoes into the blender and turn it on.
After a moment, you’ll receive acidic juice.
Step 5: Melt the Rust & Cut the Wires
Bring the acidic juice to the rusted iron bars and pour it on them to melt the rust.
Behind the bars, you’ll see four colored wires. To cut them, you need scissors.
Go to the back of the cafeteria and pick up the scissors, then return and cut all four wires:
- Green
- Blue
- Yellow
- Red
Cutting all four opens the next restricted area.
Step 6: A3 Key & Color Grid Puzzle
Inside the newly opened area, grab the A3 key, which unlocks the detention section.
After opening the door, you’ll see a color grid pattern. This puzzle is visual, so taking a screenshot helps.
You need to replicate the green tile pattern exactly on the keypad. Mark every square that was green in the reference image. When done correctly, the door will open.
Step 7: Computer Password
Inside the room, interact with the computer and click “I forgot my password.”
The game tells you to check your inbox.
Go to the inbox room and open the new email. You’ll receive a random password (it’s different for every player), something like:
SHGAIS (example only)
Return to the computer, enter your own password, and submit it to unlock the final area.
Ending the Investigation
Once the final door opens, you can officially end the investigation.
Now comes the most important part: choosing the correct suspect.
Who Is the Real Culprit?
Case Facts:
- 20 inmates vanished
- No alarms triggered
- No guards attacked
This immediately tells us it was an inside job.
Elimination Logic:
- Granny is clearly being framed
- The note mentions a “suspicious cake,” but the cake hid a grinding tool
- Someone intentionally planted evidence to blame her
Now consider positions:
- The janitor wouldn’t be at reception
- The cook wouldn’t leave the kitchen
- The tech guard belongs in the control room
That leaves only one suspect who had:
- Access
- Position
- Motive to frame someone else
✅ Correct Suspect:
The Receptionist
Vote for the receptionist to complete the case successfully.
The Prison map is all about observation and deduction, not speed. If you follow the clues instead of guessing, the solution makes complete sense. Once you understand how Detective Duck structures its logic, future maps become much easier to read.
