Draft Showdown Tier List – Best Units & Decks Guide

The meta in Draft Showdown changes constantly depending on arena progression, balance patches, and player strategy, but some units consistently dominate because of how flexible and reliable they are in real matches.

This Draft Showdown Tier List is based on current community discussions, Reddit strategies, ladder performance, and real player experiences in Draft Showdown. Some units become stronger or weaker depending on arena level, matchups, and balance patches, but these placements reflect how players are currently using them in the meta. S Tier Units

Spartheus

Spartheus is currently one of the strongest frontline units in the game and is considered almost mandatory in many high-level strategies. His biggest strength is how well he protects backline carries like Merlinor and Engineer. The shield wall he creates gives ranged units enough time to completely take over the battlefield.

Many players build their entire strategy around Spartheus because he fits into almost every composition. He works especially well with:

  • Merlinor
  • Engineer
  • Totem setups
  • Snail backlines

Spartheus is also very beginner-friendly because he provides instant frontline stability without requiring complicated positioning.

Engineer

Engineer remains one of the strongest units in Draft Showdown even after the nerf. Previously, Engineer machines had health and acted like permanent walls, making him extremely frustrating to fight against. After the nerf, machines now despawn automatically, but Engineer still provides:

  • Strong battlefield pressure
  • High damage
  • Anti-Assassin protection
  • Excellent frontline support

Players commonly pair Engineer with Spartheus or Knight because those units buy enough time for Engineers to flood the battlefield with machines.

Engineer is especially dangerous in longer fights where opponents cannot quickly break through the frontline.

Overmind

Overmind is considered one of the strongest late-game carries in the game. Many players describe him as the true endgame powerhouse because his scaling becomes overwhelming once protected properly.

The main reason Overmind is placed so high is because he can completely dominate matches if allowed to survive. Strong frontline units make him nearly impossible to deal with in extended fights.

Most players consider unlocking Overmind a major progression milestone.

Shellbro

Shellbro is one of the most oppressive units against weaker or unprepared players. Beginners especially struggle against Shellbro because it punishes poor positioning and weak frontlines extremely hard.

The reason Shellbro is so dangerous is because once upgraded, it can roll through many defensive setups and destroy grouped units quickly.

There are counters to Shellbro, especially Waster stun interactions, but many players still believe Shellbro deserves S Tier because of how consistently powerful it performs in normal matches.

A Tier Units

Agent B

Agent B is a strong utility unit that fits aggressive strategies very well. Players like Agent B because he applies pressure while still remaining flexible enough to work in different team compositions.

He performs best against teams relying too heavily on fragile ranged units.

Knight

Knight is one of the safest and most reliable beginner units in Draft Showdown. While simple, Knights provide incredible frontline value because they spawn in larger numbers and absorb huge amounts of damage.

Knight works extremely well with:

  • Merlinor
  • Engineer
  • Snail
  • Totem setups

Many experienced players still use Knight even in higher arenas because reliable meat shields are always useful.

Merlinor

Merlinor is one of the strongest carry units for beginners and mid-game players. Entire team compositions are often designed around protecting Merlinor long enough for him to scale out of control.

Merlinor becomes especially dangerous behind Spartheus or Knight frontlines. If he survives long enough, he can wipe entire enemy formations almost by himself.

Most beginner players climbing arenas successfully are usually running some version of a Merlinor composition.

Whelp

Whelps are underrated by newer players but have strong utility in many matchups. Experienced players often use them because they survive certain area damage and fire effects better than expected.

They are especially useful in fights where battlefield chaos becomes important.

Sixshoot

Sixshoot is a very reliable ranged damage dealer that works well in balanced compositions. He may not completely dominate games like Merlinor, but he provides steady damage and consistent pressure.

Sixshoot fits many flexible team setups and rarely feels useless.

Goose

Goose is one of the best early-game tempo units in Draft Showdown. Players use Goose to:

  • Pressure early rounds
  • Soak Snail shots
  • Force enemy reactions
  • Disrupt slow scaling setups

However, Goose falls off later in matches, which is why some players argue Goose belongs lower than A Tier.

Still, for fast-paced aggressive starts, Goose remains extremely strong.

Waster

Waster is one of the most misunderstood units in the game. Some players think it is terrible, while others use it specifically to counter Shellbro strategies.

The important detail is that Waster depends heavily on timing and positioning. One properly placed Waster group can completely stop a Shellbro push.

Players who spam too many Wasters often make the unit look weak, which is why opinions on it vary so much.

B Tier Units

Splime

Splime is decent in slower control-based matches but is usually outclassed by stronger scaling units later on. It can still work in beginner arenas where players are less optimized.

Snail

Snail is one of the strongest beginner support carries because of the pressure it creates from the backline. A protected Snail can completely control fights.

The problem is that Snail is vulnerable to:

  • Assassin dives
  • Sniper pressure
  • Fast aggressive pushes

Snail performs best behind heavy frontline protection.

Parasite

Parasite is useful for disrupting enemy formations and creating awkward battlefield situations. While not as dominant as higher-tier carries, it still performs well in certain matchups.

Sniper

Sniper is extremely matchup-dependent. Against fragile backline teams, Sniper feels amazing. Against Assassin-heavy or aggressive dive setups, Sniper can feel almost useless.

Sniper is best used against:

  • Snails
  • Merlinor
  • Cupid
  • Weak ranged carries

Good players only invest heavily into Sniper when the matchup clearly favors it.

Matriarch

Matriarch is solid overall but lacks the overwhelming dominance of true meta-defining units. Still, it can perform very well in balanced compositions and longer matches.

Cupid

Cupid is very strong in beginner arenas because newer players often struggle against ranged pressure. However, experienced players eventually learn to counter Cupid using:

  • Snail pressure
  • Assassin dives
  • Heavy frontlines

Cupid remains dangerous, but no longer feels unbeatable once players understand positioning better.

C Tier Units

Bloodvine

Bloodvine is one of the more divisive units in the community. Some players believe Bloodvine works very well with Merlinor strategies because it helps hold the frontline longer.

Others feel Spartheus and Knight simply outperform it more consistently.

Bloodvine can work, but usually requires more specific setups.

Kingclops

Kingclops functions as a frontline unit but is generally overshadowed by Spartheus and Knight. While usable, most players simply prefer stronger and more reliable tank options.

TNT

TNT used to appear more frequently in beginner setups because of explosive pressure, but modern strategies usually favor scaling carries instead.

TNT still works in aggressive openings, just not consistently enough for higher placement.

Mole

Mole is infamous in low arenas because beginners struggle heavily against surprise underground attacks. Many players even describe Mole as unfair early on.

However, once players learn positioning and proper counters, Mole becomes much less threatening.

Boomling

Boomling can occasionally work in gimmick setups, but overall consistency problems keep it in lower tiers.

D Tier Units

Totem

Totem is one of the most controversial units in Draft Showdown. Some players think Totem is terrible, while others build entire strategies around rushing elite Totems.

Elite Totems provide:

  • Healing
  • Team damage buffs
  • Strong scaling support

Some players report huge success using Totem alongside Merlinor and Knight.

However, Totem strategies often struggle against aggressive Spartheus pushes and fast battlefield pressure, which is why many players still rank Totem low overall.

Beetank

Beetank is generally considered weaker than Snail in most situations. One of the biggest complaints is that elite Beetanks can damage friendly troops, which makes positioning awkward.

Many players feel there is almost always a better option available than Beetank.

Still, some beginners enjoy Beetank because of its fun playstyle.

Assassin

Assassin is extremely strong in early arenas but falls off later once players understand how to counter it properly.

Assassin struggles heavily against:

  • Engineer setups
  • Tank walls
  • Strong frontline protection

While Assassin can still counter Snipers and weak backlines, experienced players usually deal with Assassin much more consistently.

That is why many high-level players no longer consider Assassin a top-tier unit.
