Witchspire Beginner Guide – Crafting Stations, Broom Flight

Starting your adventure in Witchspire can feel a little overwhelming at first. The world is packed with resources, hidden mechanics, familiars, crafting systems, and progression paths that the game doesn’t always explain very well. It’s easy to spend your first few hours wandering around and later realize you skipped something important.

After spending time with the game, one thing became clear: the players who progress the fastest aren’t necessarily the ones rushing through quests. They’re the ones building a strong foundation early on.

If you’re just getting started and want to avoid common mistakes, these tips will save you a lot of time and frustration later.

Witchspire Beginner Guide – Crafting Stations, Broom Flight

This might sound obvious, but it’s probably the most important beginner tip in Witchspire.

Many survival and crafting games have resources that become useless after the opening hours. Witchspire isn’t one of them. Almost every material you encounter has a purpose somewhere in the crafting chain.

Wood is needed for structures, stations, and upgrades. Verdant Bloom Flowers can be turned into healing materials. Berries provide easy health recovery during exploration. Cotton Flowers become important for future Hearth upgrades.

A lot of players ignore resources because they don’t currently need them. Then several hours later they’re running back across the map looking for materials they passed dozens of times.

A good rule to follow is simple:

If you can harvest it, collect it.

Your future self will appreciate it.

2. Always Clear Monster Camps

Whenever you discover a monster camp, don’t just defeat the enemies and leave.

Take a few extra minutes to thoroughly explore the area.

Many camps contain hidden treasure chests tucked between structures, behind obstacles, or even inside nearby caves. These chests often contain valuable rewards, including gold and useful crafting materials that can accelerate your early progression.

Some of the easiest early-game loot comes from camps that players rush through without searching properly.

3. Build Storage Chests Early

Inventory space disappears surprisingly fast in Witchspire.

If you’re following the first tip and collecting everything you see, you’ll quickly run out of room.

That’s why building storage chests should be one of your earliest priorities.

The best part is that resources stored inside chests remain available for crafting. You don’t have to constantly pull items back into your inventory whenever you want to make something.

This makes organization much easier and keeps your inventory free for exploration.

4. Assign Familiars to Crafting Stations

Many new players treat familiars purely as companions.

That’s a mistake.

Familiars can dramatically improve the efficiency of various crafting and processing stations. Assigning them to buildings allows production to run more effectively and reduces waiting times.

You’ll especially notice the difference as your base grows and more crafting stations become available.

Think of familiars as workers, not just pets.

5. Unlock the Right Familiars for the Spinner

One important station deserves special attention.

The Spinner won’t function on its own.

To operate it, you’ll need specific familiars such as a Lambleaf or Shardling assigned to the building. Without them, production simply won’t start.

Since threads, cotton, and other fiber-based materials become important for progression, getting access to these familiars early can save a lot of headaches later.

6. Fight Every Familiar-Type Creature You Encounter

One of the biggest beginner mistakes is ignoring creatures that can become familiars.

Whenever you defeat a creature, pay attention to what happens afterward.

If a spirit rises from the defeated creature and disappears into the air, that creature belongs to the familiar category.

Normal enemies such as Froblins don’t have this effect.

As you continue defeating familiar-type creatures, you’ll eventually encounter spirits that remain behind instead of vanishing. When that happens, you can interact with them and form a bond, turning them into a companion.

The more familiar creatures you defeat, the more chances you have to unlock new companions.

Because of that, it’s usually worth fighting them whenever you see them.

7. Invest in the Spirit Charmer Skill

If you’re planning to collect familiars, this skill is incredibly valuable.

Within the Luminary skill tree, you’ll find the Spirit Charmer upgrade.

This skill increases the chances of spirits lingering after a familiar-type creature is defeated.

In simple terms, it helps you obtain familiars more frequently.

I personally consider this one of the most useful early-game investments because familiars affect both combat and crafting progression.

8. Activate Every Luminary Shrine You Discover

Few things provide more value than a Luminary Shrine.

Whenever you find one during exploration, stop what you’re doing and activate it.

Each shrine grants a free Luminary Point that can immediately be invested into your progression.

These points can unlock:

  • New recipes
  • Additional crafting options
  • Stat improvements
  • Valuable passive bonuses
  • Powerful upgrades throughout the Luminary tree

Since Luminary Points are normally earned through progression, every shrine effectively gives you free advancement.

Skipping them is never worth it.

9. Search Around Elder Trees

Elder Trees are more important than they initially appear.

Whenever you find one, take some time to investigate the surrounding area.

These locations often contain hidden rewards, including treasure chests and Shimmer Dust.

Shimmer Dust becomes especially valuable later because it can be refined into Shimmering Ink.

And that’s where things get interesting.

10. Stockpile Shimmer Dust Early

Most players don’t realize how useful Shimmer Dust becomes until much later.

The material is used to create Shimmering Ink, which serves as a key ingredient for Ritual Scrolls.

Ritual Scrolls function as powerful consumable spells that can provide major advantages during difficult encounters.

As enemies become tougher, having access to a collection of combat scrolls can make battles significantly easier.

Whenever you come across Shimmer Dust, grab it. Even if you don’t need it immediately, you’ll eventually be glad you did.

11. Prioritize Unlocking Broom Flight

If there’s one progression milestone that completely changes the game, it’s unlocking your broom.

Before flight, traveling between objectives can take a long time.

After flight, resource gathering, exploration, questing, and map traversal become dramatically faster.

You’ll spend less time running and more time actually progressing.

The sooner you unlock your broom, the smoother the rest of your playthrough becomes.

12. How to Unlock Broom Flight

A lot of players get confused by this process, but it’s actually fairly straightforward.

First, you’ll need to progress through the main story until you’re able to defeat the Aloonian Golem.

After defeating the boss, you’ll receive the Tear of Aloon.

This item allows you to upgrade your Hearth from Level 3 to Level 4.

Once your Hearth reaches Level 4, you’ll gain access to the broom recipe.

The recipe requires:

  • Spirit Dust
  • Fine Wood

Spirit Dust comes from familiar-related creatures, while Fine Wood can be gathered from Fine Wood trees found in early areas.

After crafting the broom, locate and activate the Flight Pillar associated with the flight questline. Once activated, equip your broom and press the flight key to take to the skies.

It’s one of those moments that makes the entire world suddenly feel much smaller.

13. Don’t Waste Time Farming Gemstones

Many players spend hours searching for the “best gemstone farming method.”

The truth is that gemstones are usually obtained naturally.

They can drop from enemies and also appear while mining ore deposits such as copper, iron, gold, and other resource nodes.

If you’re already:

  • Clearing camps
  • Fighting enemies
  • Gathering resources
  • Mining every ore vein
  • Exploring thoroughly

Then you’re constantly creating opportunities for gemstone drops.

Instead of targeting gemstones specifically, focus on overall progression. You’ll often discover that gemstones quietly accumulate in your inventory without any dedicated farming at all.

Take Your Time and Build a Strong Foundation

One thing I’ve noticed while playing Witchspire is that the game rewards preparation far more than rushing.

Players who slow down to gather resources, collect familiars, activate shrines, and explore thoroughly usually have a much easier time later on. Meanwhile, players who sprint through objectives often end up backtracking for materials they skipped hours earlier.

So don’t worry about reaching the endgame as fast as possible.

Explore every corner. Collect every useful resource. Bond with new familiars whenever you get the chance. Upgrade your Hearth consistently and keep unlocking new progression systems.

Do that, and you’ll find that Witchspire becomes less about simply surviving and much more about mastering everything the world has to offer.
