SpaceCraft Base Buildings & Material Requirements Guide

If you’ve finally reached the point where SpaceCraft lets you establish your own base, you’re about to enter one of the most rewarding parts of the game. A well-planned base transforms resource gathering from a constant manual grind into a fully automated production network that continues working even while you’re exploring distant planets and sectors.

However, many new players quickly discover that building structures requires a large number of materials, and constantly returning to check crafting costs can slow progress considerably.

This SpaceCraft Base Buildings and Material Requirements Guide covers every major base structure currently available in SpaceCraft along with the materials required to build them. Alongside the material requirements, you’ll also find explanations of each building’s purpose and when it becomes worth constructing so you can prioritize the structures that will have the biggest impact on your progression.

SpaceCraft Base Buildings & Material Requirements Guide

After placing your first Base Command Center, your next objective is creating a functional production network. Every building serves a specific purpose, and understanding which ones to prioritize will save a lot of time and resources.

Extractor

The Extractor is the heart of every mining operation.

It can only be placed directly on top of a resource deposit and automatically mines raw materials while you are online or offline.

Materials Required:

  • 1 Motor
  • 4 Concrete

Since nearly every production chain starts with raw resources, this should usually be the first building you construct after establishing your base.

Pylon

Pylons distribute electricity between structures.

Without power connections, most automated buildings will not function.

Materials Required:

  • 1 Magnetic Coil

Pylons are inexpensive and should be placed early to connect Extractors, Smelters, Assemblers, and other production facilities.

Smelter

The Smelter converts raw ore into usable ingots automatically.

Instead of manually refining resources at stations, a Smelter allows your base to process materials continuously.

Materials Required:

  • 1 Stainless Plate
  • 10 Concrete

A Smelter is usually the second production building players create after placing Extractors.

Warehouse

Warehouses dramatically increase storage capacity and serve as the backbone of larger production chains.

Drones can easily move resources in and out of Warehouses.

Materials Required:

  • 50 Metal Sheets
  • 4 Structural Beams
  • 4 Stainless Plates
  • 20 Concrete

Once your Extractors and Smelters begin producing resources around the clock, storage quickly becomes necessary.

Assembler

Assemblers automatically craft industrial components from processed resources.

As your factory expands, Assemblers become essential for producing advanced crafting materials.

Materials Required:

  • 4 Structural Beams
  • 8 Stainless Plates
  • 40 Concrete
  • 3 Motors

Unlike manual crafting, Assemblers operate continuously and support large-scale production.

Drone Dispatcher

Drone Dispatchers help organize logistics networks by combining and splitting drone routes.

Materials Required:

  • 1 Metal Sheet
  • 1 Stainless Plate

While not mandatory for a small base, they become extremely useful once multiple production lines are operating simultaneously.

Landing Pad

Landing Pads allow ships to dock directly at your base and transfer fuel, liquids, and materials.

Materials Required:

  • 8 Stainless Plates
  • 40 Concrete

Landing Pads become increasingly valuable as your operations spread across multiple planets and sectors.

Solar Plant

A Solar Plant provides large-scale power generation for your base.

Unlike many other structures, it requires no fuel and continuously generates electricity when properly positioned.

Materials Required:

  • 1 Structural Beam
  • 9 Stainless Plates
  • 36 Solar Cells

As your automation network grows, Solar Plants become the most reliable long-term power source.

Micro-Furnace

The Micro-Furnace is an upgraded refining structure designed for faster ore processing.

Materials Required:

  • 2 Stainless Plates
  • 5 Concrete
  • 1 Calcite

This building serves as an excellent stepping stone before establishing larger industrial systems.

Command Tower

The Command Tower expands your base’s operational area and increases its maximum supported infrastructure.

Materials Required:

  • 50 Stainless Plates
  • 25 Structural Beams
  • 80 Magnetic Coils
  • 250 Concrete

This is generally a mid-game upgrade rather than something new players should rush.

Trading Box

Trading Boxes allow corporation members to exchange resources and supplies directly.

Materials Required:

  • 10 Metal Sheets

This building is primarily useful for cooperative play.

Recommended Building Order

For a first base, I recommend following this progression:

  1. Base Command Center
  2. Extractor on every nearby deposit
  3. Pylons for power connections
  4. Smelter
  5. Warehouse
  6. Additional Extractors
  7. Solar Plant
  8. Assembler
  9. Drone Dispatcher
  10. Landing Pad
  11. Command Tower

Following this order gives you a stable resource flow, automated refining, storage capacity, and enough power to begin scaling into a fully automated industrial base.
