Lucky Tower Ultimate Equipment Durability Guide – Armor

Choosing the right equipment in Lucky Tower Ultimate isn’t just about appearance. Every piece of armor, helmet, and shield has its own durability, and understanding how long each item lasts can make a huge difference during difficult runs.

After extensive in-game testing, this guide compares the durability of every defensive item and explains which pieces of equipment are actually worth carrying. You’ll also find useful observations about weight, special item properties, and which gear offers the best overall value.

Lucky Tower Ultimate Equipment Durability Guide – Armor, Helmet

To keep the results as accurate as possible, every item was tested under consistent conditions using attacks that deal the same amount of damage.

For armor and helmets, each point of durability was measured using damage sources that consistently remove one durability point. These included:

  • A hit from a bat.
  • A hit from a medium slime.
  • Jumping from the second-floor attic balcony.

Interestingly, falling from the attic damages both your armor and your helmet, making it a reliable method for repeated testing.

Shields required a different approach because they only lose durability when blocking attacks. A single bee living inside a hive was used as the testing partner. Each blocked bee attack removed one durability point from the shield, making it easy to count exactly how many hits each shield could survive.

One unexpected discovery was that bees can damage every shield regardless of the material it’s made from. While that may not make much sense logically, it made testing much easier.

Armor Durability

Armor protects your character’s body and generally offers the highest durability among defensive equipment. However, heavier armor slows movement, so the strongest option isn’t always the best choice.

Armor Durability (Hits)
Flour Sack 1
Undershirt 1
Barrel 3
Puffy Shirt (Courtier’s Doublet) 3
Peasant’s Robe 3
Yelek (Ottoman Waistcoat) 4
Iron Chainmail 4
Green Chainmail 5
Checkered Knight Armor 6
Gold Chainmail 6
Steel Plate Armor 7
Black Spiked Plate 7
Ivory Chainmail 8
Gold Plate Armor (Ruby) 9

Best Armor Choices

If you only care about durability, the Gold Plate Armor with the Ruby is the strongest armor in the game, surviving nine hits before breaking.

However, if you also value movement speed, Gold Chainmail is one of the best overall choices. It offers six durability while remaining noticeably lighter than the heavy plate armors.

The Ivory Chainmail is another excellent option, combining high durability with better mobility than most plate armor.

Helmet Durability

Helmets protect your head separately from your body armor. While most helmets don’t last very long, a few stand out as excellent defensive choices.

Helmet Durability (Hits)
Turban 2
Chainmail Hood (Flappy Back) 2
Plate Helmet 2
Iron Cone 3
Great Helm (Bucket) 4
Knight Helmet (Plume) 5
Cavalry Helmet 5
Viking Helmet 6
Gold Cone 6
Crown Indestructible*

The following helmets break after just a single hit:

  • Peasant Cap
  • Merchant Hat
  • Straw Hat
  • Beehive
  • Beekeeper Hat
  • Hood
  • Executioner’s Hood
  • Wizard Hat
  • Princess Cone
  • Cup
  • Bandana

About the Crown

The Crown is a unique case.

It doesn’t appear to lose durability from direct damage, making it technically indestructible. However, this doesn’t make it the best helmet.

Instead of breaking, the crown tends to get knocked off your character very easily during combat. Once it falls off, it can roll surprisingly far away, making it difficult to recover in the middle of a fight.

Because of this, it’s more of a cosmetic or novelty item than reliable protection.

Shield Durability

Unlike armor, shields only protect attacks that hit from the front. Positioning is just as important as durability when using one.

Shield Durability (Hits)
Pillow 3
Trash Can Lid 3
Buckler 4
Wooden Heater Shield 5
Swan Shield 5
Wave Shield 5
Roman Shield 6
Spiked Shield 6
Golden Round Shield 7
Stone Shield 8
Emerald Shield 10

Best Shield

The Emerald Shield is easily the strongest shield available, surviving ten blocked hits before breaking.

Its high durability makes it especially valuable during the game’s final boss, allowing you to absorb many attacks while focusing on dodging poison and stronger melee attacks.

Remember that shields only block damage coming from directly in front of your character. Attacks from behind or the sides will still hit you normally.

Equipment Weight Matters

Durability isn’t the only stat worth considering.

Every defensive item also has weight, which directly affects your movement speed. In many situations, moving faster is more valuable than surviving one or two additional hits.

For example, although the Barrel and Peasant’s Robe both survive three hits, the robe is much lighter, making it the more practical choice for most runs.

Similarly, heavy plate armor can sometimes become a disadvantage because slower movement makes avoiding traps and enemy attacks much harder.

Interesting Discoveries

Several surprising details came up during testing.

Gold equipment is lighter

Despite gold being extremely heavy in real life, the game’s gold equipment is actually lighter than many of its iron versions.

This makes Gold Chainmail particularly impressive since it combines relatively high durability with low weight.

Black Plate Armor isn’t as strong as expected

Although the Black Spiked Plate looks intimidating, it has the exact same durability as standard Steel Plate Armor while remaining extremely heavy.

Unless you specifically want its special effect, Gold Chainmail is often the better overall choice.

Ivory Chainmail is incredibly durable

Dialogue from the character Wanst suggests the armor is actually made from ivory rather than simply being ivory-colored.

It ends up being the second strongest armor in the game, surviving eight hits while avoiding some of the drawbacks of heavier plate armor.

Spiked equipment fights back

Armor and shields with spikes deal damage back to enemies when you’re hit.

This extra damage can be useful, but the added weight means you’ll move more slowly.

Gold Cone is the strongest helmet

The Gold Cone proved to be one of the biggest surprises during testing.

Not only does it survive six hits, but it’s also lighter than the Viking Helmet, making it arguably the best practical helmet in the game.

Iron Cone falls behind

The Iron Cone only survives three hits while weighing almost as much as the Viking Helmet.

Because of its poor durability-to-weight ratio, it’s one of the weakest helmet choices available.

Endgame Recommendation

For players preparing for the final boss, the Emerald Shield is one of the safest defensive options you can bring.

A useful trick is placing the Green Key into the pipe before entering the final area. Doing this lets the key wait safely at the gate while you carry a shield or weapon instead. This gives you much better survivability during the fight without preventing you from progressing afterward.

While durability is an important factor, the best equipment in Lucky Tower Ultimate is usually the gear that balances protection with mobility. Heavy armor may absorb more damage, but faster movement often allows you to avoid attacks entirely.

For most players, Gold Chainmail, the Gold Cone, and the Emerald Shield provide some of the strongest overall defensive combinations in the game. If you prefer a slower but tankier playstyle, the Ruby Gold Plate Armor offers the highest armor durability available.

Hopefully this comparison helps you choose the equipment that best matches your playstyle and makes your future runs through Lucky Tower Ultimate a little easier.
