Starting Anime Duelists can feel overwhelming at first. Between summoning units, unlocking new maps, traits, stats, trading, and several different upgrade systems, it’s easy to waste valuable resources without realizing it.
The good news is that the early game is actually pretty forgiving if you know where to invest your gems and which items are worth saving. After spending some time playing, there are a few things I wish I had known before I started, especially as a free-to-play player.
This guide covers the best beginner tips, how to progress efficiently, what to spend your gems on, and the biggest mistakes new players should avoid.
Anime Duelists Beginner Guide – Trello, Wiki, Best Tips
Before you do anything else, redeem all active Anime Duelists codes.
The rewards usually include free Gems, consumables, reroll items, and other useful resources that give you a strong head start.
Those free Gems are especially valuable early on because they can be spent on permanent upgrades instead of disappearing after a single summon session.
If new codes are available, make sure to claim them before they expire.
Gems
One of the biggest beginner mistakes is spending Gems without a plan.
Instead of wasting them on temporary advantages, focus on permanent Game Pass upgrades that improve your progression every day.
Two of the best investments are:
Multi Open
If your goal is getting stronger units quickly, Multi Open is one of the best purchases.
Opening several summons at once speeds up farming considerably and makes it much easier to hunt for Mythical and Secret units.
Extra Equip
Extra Equip lets you bring more units into battle, increasing your overall damage and making progression smoother.
If you already have strong units, this upgrade provides long-term value throughout the game.
Both upgrades are excellent, so the better choice depends on your current priorities.
- Want stronger characters faster? Choose Multi Open.
- Already have good units? Extra Equip becomes incredibly useful.
Complete Quests
Don’t ignore NPC quests.
Each map contains quests that reward additional Gems, items, and other progression materials.
Many new players rush straight to the next area, but taking a little time to finish available quests gives you a steady supply of resources without spending Robux.
These rewards add up surprisingly quickly.
Use Auto Hatch
One of the nicest quality-of-life features in Anime Duelists is Auto Hatch.
Unlike many similar games, you don’t need to stand beside the summon egg.
You can:
- Fight enemies
- Complete quests
- Farm currency
- Progress through the map
…while your character continues hatching units automatically.
This lets you make progress in two different systems at the same time, making your overall farming much more efficient.
Whenever possible, keep Auto Hatch running.
Don’t Waste Trait Rerolls
Trait Rerolls become much more valuable later in the game.
While it’s tempting to reroll traits on every Legendary unit you obtain, doing so usually isn’t worth it.
Legendary characters are eventually replaced as you unlock stronger areas.
Instead, save most of your Trait Rerolls until you obtain:
- Mythical units
- Secret units
These characters stay useful much longer, making every reroll significantly more valuable.
Unless you get extremely lucky early, it’s better to be patient.
Save Stat Reroll Items
The same advice applies to Stat Rerolls.
You’ll unlock the Stat NPC in the second world near the teleport area.
Although you’ll be able to improve unit stats there, avoid spending too many reroll materials on weaker characters.
Stat items become much harder to replace than early-game units.
Waiting until you have your strongest team gives much better value.
Aim for a Mythical Before Moving On
One progression strategy that works well for free-to-play players is staying in each area until you obtain at least one Mythical unit.
Doing this gives your team a noticeable power boost before entering the next world.
While it isn’t the only way to play, it creates a smoother progression curve and reduces the chances of getting stuck against stronger enemies later.
Some experienced players may prefer rushing maps for faster unlocks, but if you’re playing casually or without spending Robux, taking a little extra time usually pays off.
Trading System
Anime Duelists includes a fully functional trading system, something that helps set it apart from many other anime simulator games.
The trading area is located in the first world near the summon eggs.
Even if you don’t plan on trading immediately, it’s worth knowing where it is because valuable units can become useful trading assets later.
As the game’s community grows, trading will likely become an important part of collecting rare units.
Focus on Building a Strong Core Team
Instead of trying to upgrade every character you obtain, focus your resources on a small number of strong units.
A focused team allows you to:
- Clear maps faster
- Farm more efficiently
- Save upgrade materials
- Replace weaker units more easily later
Investing heavily in characters you’ll replace within an hour usually isn’t worth the resources.
Anime Duelists has a solid foundation with features like Auto Hatch, trading, and multiple upgrade systems that make progression feel rewarding. While the game is still new and has room to grow, it already offers plenty to keep both casual and dedicated players busy.
If you’re playing as a free-to-play player, patience is one of your biggest advantages. Save your rerolls, invest your Gems wisely, and focus on building a strong team instead of upgrading every unit you pull. A little planning early on will make progressing through later worlds much easier and leave you with enough resources to power up the units that truly matter.
