BERSERK B.I.T.S Beginner Guide & Game Systems Explained

Berserk B.I.T.S drops you straight into the action with very little direction, which means most players miss key mechanics, progression tricks, and hidden systems that dramatically improve your efficiency.
This guide gives you a full understanding of how the game works, from your BIT to programs, gacha, quests, and the net—everything the game doesn’t tell you.

Your BIT acts as your digital avatar, traveling through a virtual world filled with zones, battles, program automation, and progression systems. The early game is simple, but the deeper you go, the more upgrades, tools, and hidden interactions appear.

This guide walks you through every major system so you can progress faster, manage programs efficiently, and unlock upgrades with minimal confusion.

Installing Custom BITS

BERSERK B.I.TS supports custom player skins, letting you replace your default BIT with community-made designs. Many of these can be found in the game’s official Discord under the Custom BITS Repository.

How to Install Custom BITS

  1. Right-click the game in your Steam Library.
  2. Select Manage → Browse Local Files.
  3. Open the custom folder.
  4. Copy all files from the downloaded custom BIT folder into this directory.
  5. If the custom BIT includes a babble.json, copy it into the data folder and overwrite any existing file.

When you start a save using the CUSTOM option, the game sends you an in-game email explaining this process, but the steps above cover everything you need.

Your BIT

Your BIT is your main character. Think of it like a digital fighter that levels up and grows stronger as you explore the NET.

Key BIT Facts

  • Your BIT begins with 1 damage per Buster Shot.
  • Damage increases at the following levels:
    12, 23, 34, 45, 56, 67, 78, and 89.
  • Maximum level is 99.
  • You can take on missions above your level if you’re skilled.

Your BIT is the center of progression, but it’s only half the system—programs provide the real long-term power.

Programs

Programs live on your homepage and passively generate resources, chips, and automation. You unlock more powerful setups as you expand.

Important Program Facts

  • You can store unlimited programs in the Program Box—drag them in and it expands automatically.
  • Storing a program resets its level to 1.
  • Eggs can hatch inside the Program Box (slightly slower than normal).
  • Your Home Page has limited capacity.
    • Starts at 10 slots
    • Can be expanded via:
      • Home Page upgrades
      • Bot capacity upgrades
      • Some programs do not count toward the limit (Coin Bot, Heart Bot)

Feeding & Leveling Programs

  • Chip-producing programs must be fed to stay active.
  • Each program likes a specific food type (shown when clicked).
  • Feeding them increases their level (max level 3).
  • It takes roughly 7 food per level.
  • Leveling increases chip production speed.
  • Hungry programs stop generating chips, so keep them fed.

Feeding Tools

  • Feed Bot automates feeding if you already own food.
  • Chefs automatically generate food.
  • Programs indicate chip production with a hammer icon above their head.

Selling Programs

  • Use the Egg Beater from the Shop.
  • Drag a program onto it while you have 1 free Home Page slot.

The Shop

The Shop is essential for upgrades, automation, food, decorations, and tools. It’s divided into useful categories:

Food

Used to feed programs. Available food types include:
Apple, Burger, Cherry, Donut, Onigiri, Fries, Ice Cream.

Tools

Convenience and upgrading items:

  • Fences (control program positions)
  • Temporary Mining Upgrade (boosts material drop rate)
  • Coin Program
  • Heart Program
  • Egg Beater
  • Tag Team
  • Gacha Tokens

Automation

Automation programs that improve efficiency:

  • Auto-Shaker (automatically shakes Coin & Heart programs)
  • Feed Bot (auto-feeding)
  • Chefs (generate food)
  • Poop Scooper (cleans program poop automatically)

Toys

Boost the power of battle chips when placed on your homepage.

Decor

Cosmetic items for customizing your homepage.

Tiles

Change the look of your homepage floor (dirt, stone, wood, water, etc).

The Net

The Net is the game’s main world map, divided into zones and missions. Each mission has a recommended level, but experienced players can take on harder missions early.

Key Net Features

  • Each mission section is a playable combat area for your BIT.
  • Questgiver icons appear on missions that contain active quests.
  • Egg icons mark zones with increased chances of obtaining that zone’s egg.
  • Locked areas often require paying a coin fee to unlock.
  • New zones unlock new:
    • Tools
    • Automation options
    • Decorations

Missions scale, but clearing harder ones early rewards better materials and progression.

Quests

Quests arrive via email and are tied to the zone you’re currently exploring. Changing zones changes both quests and rewards.

Reward Cycling

Each quest includes:

  • A reward preview
  • A Cycle button

Cycling costs 100 coins and rotates rewards through all possible drops for that zone.

Best Use of Cycling

  • Cycle for materials needed for upgrades.
  • If you don’t need materials, cycle for eggs (very useful).

Gacha

The Gacha machine uses 1 Gacha Token per pull and awards random eggs of various rarities:

  • Common
  • Uncommon
  • Rare
  • Epic
  • Legendary

How to Get Gacha Tokens

  • Buy in the Shop for 1000 coins
  • Limit: 1 token per real-world hour

What You Can Get

As far as testing shows:

  • You can obtain any program egg, including ones from late-game areas.
  • All chips tied to those programs become available if you hatch them.

This makes Gacha a way to jump-start builds early—but it’s random.

Settings

The Settings menu is accessed via the white icon with three horizontal lines on your BIT Device.

Key Options

  • In Front: Keeps the game window in the foreground
  • Screen Size: Adjusts window scale
  • Monitor: Choose which display the game runs on

Bottom Icon Functions (Click & Hold)

From left to right:

  1. Quit Game
  2. Return to Title Screen
  3. Join the Discord
  4. Change window orientation
  5. Open the Wiki

Most players miss these because they require holding, not tapping.
