In Clash of Critters, evolving the wrong critter can slow your account progression more than most players realize. Resources become incredibly limited once you start pushing toward Evolution 3 and beyond, which means every box, duplicate, and upgrade material matters.
This tier list is not based purely on raw strength. Instead, it focuses on evolution priority, meaning which critters give the biggest value spikes when evolved and which ones deserve your precious resources first.
Some units become monsters at Evolution 2, while others completely transform at Evolution 3. A few are useful immediately without heavy investment, and some honestly are not worth touching until much later.
Clash of Critters Tier List – Evolution Priority Guide

Evolution 3 ASAP Tier
These are the critters that should become your highest long-term priority. Their third evolution provides such a massive jump in effectiveness that stopping at Evolution 2 feels incomplete.
Monkey
Monkey is one of the safest Evolution 3 investments in the game right now. The critter scales extremely well with upgrades and becomes a powerful damage dealer once fully online. Early on, Monkey already performs decently, but the third evolution is where the real power spike appears.
For players struggling with consistent damage output, Monkey becomes a reliable carry that stays relevant into later progression.
Sunflower
Sunflower is not a damage dealer, and that is important to understand before investing resources. What makes this critter valuable is sustainability. The healing and support utility become significantly stronger at Evolution 3, allowing teams to survive difficult waves that would normally overwhelm them.
If your frontline constantly collapses during longer stages or invasions, Sunflower can completely stabilize your lineup.
Snake
Snake offers a strong mix of DPS and crowd control. The stun utility alone makes this critter useful in several difficult encounters, but the added damage scaling at Evolution 3 pushes Snake into one of the better utility carries available.
Snake works especially well for players who want offensive pressure without sacrificing control tools.
Electric Deer
Electric Deer has become one of the more popular progression choices thanks to its piercing attacks and utility effects. The critter scales very efficiently with duplicates, which makes it a great box investment if you already have several copies.
At Evolution 3, Electric Deer starts clearing enemies much more consistently and becomes extremely effective in crowded stages.
Water Blob
The strange water blob critter might not look impressive at first glance, but it provides one of the better hybrid kits in the game. It combines team buffing with respectable DPS, making it valuable in both offensive and balanced team compositions.
The third evolution dramatically improves its support presence and overall consistency.
Evolution 3 Based on Team Needs
These critters are excellent investments, but unlike the top priority group, they depend more heavily on your current team weaknesses.
Penguin
Penguin is a strong defensive option for players lacking frontline survivability. If your tanks are constantly melting during harder content, Penguin becomes a very reliable investment.
The critter performs especially well in defensive-focused teams where sustain matters more than burst damage.
Pink Grasshopper
Pink Grasshopper fills a similar role to Penguin but leans slightly more into disruption and frontline utility. This critter works well for players who need durability without completely sacrificing offensive pressure.
Electric Lion
Electric Lion is a hybrid DPS tank that performs surprisingly well in aggressive compositions. Instead of purely soaking damage, the critter contributes meaningful offensive output while staying difficult to kill.
For players wanting a frontline unit that can still pressure enemies, Electric Lion is a great choice.
Leaf DPS Critter
The unnamed leaf-focused DPS critter mentioned in the video is mainly recommended for players with weak grass lineups. If your account lacks elemental coverage for leaf matchups, this critter becomes a strong targeted investment.
Evolution 2 ASAP Tier
These critters gain major value immediately at Evolution 2 and are usually easier to build compared to Evolution 3 projects.
Ice Cube Cat
Ice Cube Cat becomes significantly stronger once evolved thanks to improved shard attacks and AoE coverage. The critter is excellent for clearing clustered enemies and performs very well during wave-heavy content.
Since the Evolution 2 threshold is easier to reach, Ice Cube Cat is one of the better early progression investments.
Seal
Seal combines area damage with weakening effects, making it useful in both campaign stages and tougher invasion content. The critter offers more utility than players initially expect and becomes noticeably stronger after evolving.
Soup Hog
Soup Hog is one of the better support-style critters available early. The buffs it provides greatly improve team consistency, especially for fire-element teams.
Many players underestimate support units early on, but Soup Hog scales extremely well in coordinated team setups.
Egg Bunny
The bunny critter inside the egg becomes surprisingly powerful at Evolution 2 thanks to its defensive utility. When nearby allies are close to death, it grants temporary invincibility, which can completely save difficult runs.
This mechanic becomes incredibly valuable in modes where survivability matters more than raw speed.
Owl
Owl is one of the newer critters and already appears very strong at Evolution 2. Even players who have not fully tested it agree that the power spike is substantial.
The critter offers impressive overall value and looks like a very safe future investment.
Evolution Based on Specific Needs
These critters are not universal priorities, but they become extremely useful in the right situations.
Fox
Fox is mainly recommended for players lacking fire-element DPS. The critter provides straightforward offensive pressure and works well in aggressive lineups.
Tiger
Tiger has developed a strong reputation in Fire Dojo content. The critter is difficult to fight against and performs extremely well in fire-focused matchups.
Players targeting dojo progression should strongly consider building Tiger earlier.
Parrot
Parrot functions as a buffing tank, which is a rare and valuable combination. Instead of only protecting allies, the critter also strengthens team performance.
This makes Parrot useful in balanced lineups where every slot needs to contribute utility.
Trash Bag
The trash bag critter sounds ridiculous, but it fills niche roles surprisingly well depending on team composition. It is not a universal carry, though it can still provide value if your account specifically needs its toolkit.
Evolve at Your Own Pace Tier
These critters are strong, but they do not require immediate rushing. Their power growth feels more gradual rather than explosive.
Nibblelet
Nibblelet performs perfectly fine even before heavy evolution investment. As you naturally pull more copies over time, the critter becomes stronger without demanding urgent resource spending.
This makes it one of the safer passive progression units in the game.
Gradual Scaling Critters
Several critters in this category remain very useful throughout progression, but their evolutions are not game-changing enough to justify forcing resources into them immediately.
These units generally improve steadily instead of suddenly transforming at a specific evolution stage.
Do Not Rush Tier
These critters should only receive resources after your higher priority investments are already completed.
Most of them are not necessarily terrible, but they lack the dramatic power spikes or overall utility provided by stronger options.
Using precious boxes on these critters too early can heavily delay your account progression.
Garbage Tier
Kangaroo
Unfortunately, Kangaroo currently sits at the bottom of the evolution priority list. The critter simply does not provide enough value compared to other available options.
Its kit feels underwhelming, the scaling is weak, and investing resources into Kangaroo generally results in slower progression overall.
Unless you are building for fun or personal preference, Kangaroo is best avoided for now.
The biggest mistake players make in Clash of Critters is forcing resources into critters they cannot realistically evolve soon.
Sometimes the mathematically strongest critter is not the correct investment if you only own one copy. A slightly weaker unit that is already close to Evolution 2 or Evolution 3 can provide far faster progression value.
That is why duplicate count matters just as much as tier rankings.
Instead of blindly following a list from top to bottom:
- Prioritize critters near important evolution breakpoints
- Focus on team weaknesses
- Balance DPS, survivability, and support
- Avoid spreading boxes across too many projects
A balanced roster with several evolved critters will almost always outperform a single overinvested carry surrounded by weak teammates.
