Dreadmist Character Creation Guide – Classes & Tier List

Dreadmist keeps its character creation simple, old-school, and surprisingly deep. Instead of endless sliders and micro-details, it focuses on class identity, portrait personality, and gear progression to shape how your character feels in the world. This makes the whole process fast, immersive, and very nostalgic if you love classic RPGs.

Dreadmist Character Creation Guide – Classes & Tier List

  • Cleric – S Tier
  • Ranger – A Tier
  • Paladin – B Tier
  • Mage – C Tier

Step One – Choosing Your Class

Your class defines your starting abilities, your combat role, and how your character grows.

Paladin – The Frontline Defender

Paladins are divine warriors built to protect allies and control enemies.

They start with:

• Basic melee attack
• Holy Wrath – ranged holy damage
• Radiance – healing spell
• Mighty Blow – taunt ability

Paladins are tanks. They draw enemy attention, absorb damage, and keep the team alive while controlling the battlefield. They are beginner-friendly and perfect if you like defensive, supportive gameplay.

Mage – The Arcane Destroyer

Mages are powerful but fragile spellcasters.

They start with:

• Basic melee attack
• Ignite – fire damage over time
• Fireball – direct ranged damage
• Chains of Ice – slow control spell

Mages are pure damage dealers. They hit hard but need careful positioning because they go down quickly if surrounded.

Ranger – The Agile Skirmisher

Rangers mix ranged and melee combat.

They start with:

• Melee and ranged basic attacks
• Sinister Strike – combo-style melee attack
• Entangling Shot – root ability
• Mark Target – increases damage taken by the enemy

Rangers are great for players who like mobility, tactical play, and controlling fights from mid-range.

Cleric

Clerics balance healing and damage.

They start with:

• Basic melee attack
• Holy Bolt – stun ability
• Rejuvenation – heal over time
• Plague – damage over time spell

Clerics can heal, debuff, and still contribute damage, making them ideal for group play and solo survival.

Step Two

Gender changes:

• Your character model in the world
• Which portrait set you can choose from

There is no stat difference — this is purely visual and roleplay-focused.

Step Three – Portrait Selection

This is where Dreadmist becomes truly special.

Instead of facial sliders, you choose from over 200 hand-drawn fantasy portraits inspired by classic RPGs like Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale.

Important to understand:

• Portraits do NOT change your in-game model
• They represent your identity on UI, party frames, and when players inspect you
• Your actual look comes from armor and equipment

Portrait styles range from:

• Knights and nobles
• Rogues and mercenaries
• Elves, druids, mages, and warriors
• Mysterious hooded figures
• Rugged veterans and battle-scarred heroes
• Exotic and fantasy-styled characters

You can easily spend 15–20 minutes just browsing because the variety is massive.

This system lets you define your character’s personality even before you equip your first weapon.

Dreadmist uses a clever old-school approach:

Instead of overloading you with sliders, it gives you:

• Class identity
• Visual personality through portraits
• Gear-based appearance progression

Your armor, weapons, and gear later shape your actual in-game look, while your portrait defines how others recognize you.

This keeps the system fast, nostalgic, and surprisingly personal.
