This beginner guide is meant for new Duel Corp. players who are starting to explore the world beyond basic combat. It covers three important early-game systems that can feel confusing at first: faction reputation, secret locations and leaders, and locked chests.
Duel Corp. Beginner Guide Wiki – Factions, Secrets, Leaders
If you understand these early, you’ll save time, avoid mistakes, and unlock permanent progression rewards much faster.
Factions and Leaders
Faction leaders are important NPCs tied to progression. Some require reputation, others require exploration, and some are hidden behind secret paths or puzzles. Many new players miss them entirely.
Here’s where to find each one and what you need to know before going in.
Where to Find All Known Leaders
Ehrenfeste
This leader belongs to the knights.
You must reach 1000 faction reputation first before the leader becomes available. If you don’t meet this requirement, you won’t be able to interact with them at all.
Veilhome
To find the leader here, you need to:
- Go to the far end of the city
- Pick a tunnel lock
- Explore the tunnels beyond it
The leader is hidden behind this path, so lockpicking is required.
Himmelsruh
There are two leaders in this location:
- One is located directly inside the church
- The second is locked behind a series of doors
To access the second leader, you need to find keys inside the church and use them to open the doors.
Magierturm
This location can be misleading at first.
- There is an angry NPC near the entrance — ignore them and keep moving
- Run past, grab a key located behind a house
- Enter the mirror
- Explore the area beyond the mirror to reach the leader
Rabenholz (Important for Beginners)
Rabenholz is special because it requires a secret side area to unlock its leader. This is also one of the earliest ways to gain 1000 reputation quickly.
Rabenholz Watchers – Secret Hideout Walkthrough
How to Reach the Secret Hideout
You can access the Secret Hideout by traveling:
- West of Barenfels
- East of Jagdmoor
- South of Rabenholz
Any of these paths can lead you to the hidden area.
Inside the Secret Hideout (Step by Step)
- When you enter, take the left path to reach the witch’s house.
- Go around the right side of the house and break through some crates.
Behind the house, you’ll find herbs. - Give the herbs to the witch.
She gives you a Mysterious Rune. You can use this rune on an altar found by taking the right path at the start of the level, but doing so:
- Instantly kills you
- Spawns two very high-level enemies (around level 60)
This is not required for progression and is dangerous for beginners.
- Exit the witch’s house through the back door and follow the path downward.
- You’ll reach another house with two log enemies nearby. Ignore them for now.
- Enter the house and step on the carpet trap, which drops you into the Trap of Curiosity.
Inside this underground area, you can explore and find items, including Whispering Nightsteel.
- Climb the ladder to exit.
Continue forward through a faded red bush.Warning:
Going too far forward will spawn a giant stone sphere that will instantly kill you. - Kite the stone sphere and force it to slam into the house.
This breaks the door and seals the carpet trap (the ladder still works). - Return to where the sphere spawned and pick up the Prisoner’s Rune.
- Find the prisoner in a cage behind the house.
Give the rune to the prisoner, NOT the witch.
Claiming Your Reward
After freeing the prisoner:
- Return to Rabenholz
- Enter the main tree trunk where the contract-giving guards are
- Speak to the Rabenholz Watchers’ leader
You receive:
- 1000 reputation
- A flask upgrade item
This is one of the most valuable early progression rewards in the game.
Lockpicking Guide
Locked chests appear most commonly in Conquest (Co-op) missions.
What You Need
- A Lockpick
If you don’t have one:
- Go to the Level 1 Hideout
- Visit the Blacksmith’s House
- Talk to the NPC inside
- Lockpicks cost 3 coins each
How Lockpicking Works
- Use A and D on your keyboard to move the lockpick left and right.
- Try a direction:
- If it breaks when turned left (
<-), switch direction - Try right (
->) or center (--)
- If it breaks when turned left (
- Repeat this process until you successfully complete the 3-digit lock pattern.
Once completed, the chest opens immediately.
That’s all there is to it.
