If you like hunting for hidden secrets in Under the Island, there’s a really fun one tucked away that most players will never stumble across naturally. The game actually includes a hidden Developer’s Room where you can meet the creators themselves.
It’s very well hidden, though. You could wander around the island forever and never notice it unless you know exactly where to look and what items you need.
What You Need First
Before you can access the secret room, you need two specific items:
- Bombs, which you obtain while progressing toward the first dungeon
- Fire Plant, which you get inside the first dungeon
You can’t reach the room without both of these, so make sure you’ve collected them before heading out to search.
Where to Go
Once you have the required items, head to the forest area of the island.
From there, move north until you reach a section blocked by vines and a destructible wall. This is the hidden entrance location.
Opening the Hidden Path
When you reach the blocked area, you’ll need to clear it in two steps.
First, use the Fire Plant to burn away the vines that are covering the path.
After that, place a bomb to break the wall behind them. Once the wall is destroyed, you can enter the cave.
Finding the Secret Entrance Inside the Cave
Inside the cave, the trick is not immediately obvious.
Follow the path forward until you reach a section where there’s a dark area above the walkway. Instead of continuing normally, move underneath that dark section and circle around the corner.
Keep heading toward the top-left corner of the screen. It might feel like a dead end at first, but once you reach the correct spot, the screen will transition automatically.
Entering the Developer’s Room
After the screen shift, you’ll suddenly find yourself inside the hidden Developer’s Room.
From there, you can interact with and chat with the game’s developers, making it a neat little easter egg for players who enjoy exploring every hidden corner of the island.
