Fisch Marianas Veil Guide – Locations, Cave System, Puzzle

Fisch Marianas Veil Guide: Marianas Veil is an extensive network of underwater caves stretching over 12,000 studs deep beneath Roslit Bay. Because water pressure will instantly kill a player outside of a submarine, you must use a submarine—and upgrade your pressure suit—to safely explore and progress. The cave system is divided into five main areas, each offering submarine or suit upgrades that allow you to venture deeper, culminating in the final location (the Forsaken Veil) where you’ll face Scylla Hunts and the Scylla boss.

1. Submarine Depot

Location & Setup

  • Coordinates: North-West side of Roslit Bay (–1305, 130, 310)
  • Key NPC: Dr Glimmerfin

How to Obtain Your Submarine

  1. Talk to Dr Glimmerfin:
    • Receive a Drill that is used to break rocks around the coral reef.
  2. Drill Rocks for Parts:
    • Each rock must be drilled 10 times.
    • Drilling rocks in Roslit Bay gives you a 5% chance per rock to obtain one of the five required parts:
    • Windows ×1
    • Submarine Top ×1
    • Side Fins ×1
    • Metal Panels ×1
    • Back Fins ×1
  3. Return Parts to the Depot:
    • Once all five parts are collected, a cutscene plays that clears the magma beneath the reef.
    • Your submarine is then unlocked and becomes spawnable.

2. Cave System

After constructing your submarine and talking with Dr Glimmerfin, a cutscene will trigger, opening the cave system. You must use the submarine to traverse these layers because leaving it results in instant death from water pressure.

General Mechanics

  • Submarine Controls:
    • Use E and Q to ascend and descend, along with standard boat controls.
  • Layer Progression:
    • The cave system is divided into distinct layers; each is initially separated by rocks. These rocks break only after you complete the upgrades from the layer above.
  • Upgrades:
    • Each layer (except the final Calm Zone) offers an upgrade for your submarine and your pressure suit. You cannot progress without these upgrades.

2.4. Calm Zone

Overview

  • Entrance: (–4145, –11210, 1395)
  • Objective: The Calm Zone is the final layer of the cave system. No submarine upgrades or suit enhancements are available here, but it serves as a staging area for entering the Veil of the Forsaken.

Notes

  • Fishing in the entrance yields regular Ocean fish.
  • Explore the remaining areas to complete the Calm Zone Bestiary before proceeding.

3. Veil of the Forsaken

The final area of Marianas Veil, the Veil of the Forsaken, is where you encounter the most challenging puzzles and the Scylla Boss Fight. Only players who have completed previous upgrades (and, for first-time entrants, the boss fight) can access the area and participate in Scylla Hunts thereafter.

3.1. Accessing the Veil

Step 1: Solve the Scylla Puzzle

  1. Find the Hidden River:
    • Head to the south end of the Calm Zone, near the end of the Rainbow River (–4305, –11230, 1955).
  2. Enter the Underwater Tunnel:
    • Follow the tunnel to a room with a Large Gate (–4330, –11180, 3120).
  3. Collect the Three Secret Fish:
    • Frozen Leviathan ×1 (from Challenger’s Deep)
    • Crowned Anglerfish ×1 (from Abyssal Zenith)
    • Magma Leviathan ×1 (from Volcanic Vents)
  4. Open the Gate:
    • Place all three fish at the gate to open it.
  5. Additional Chamber:
    • After the gate, proceed to a chamber with rainbow water, where more Calm Zone fish can be caught.

Step 2: Complete the Statue Puzzle

  1. Large Puzzle Area:
    • In the next chamber, you will face a puzzle featuring four Scylla head statues.
  2. Puzzle Mechanics:
    • Each statue starts at one end of a line with a randomized “correct position.”
    • Pushing a statue from behind moves it forward; from the front, it moves backward.
    • Each statue lights up green when correctly positioned.
    • You have one minute from the first move; if you’re too slow, the puzzle resets and goes on cooldown.
  3. After Completion:
    • When all statues are in their correct positions, a trapdoor opens, allowing you to jump down and be teleported to the Veil of the Forsaken.

3.2. Scylla Boss Fight

Overview

  • Location: The Veil of the Forsaken’s waiting area, accessed via the trapdoor.
  • Boss: The multi-headed Scylla

Fight Mechanics

  1. Scylla’s Attack:
    • The boss has four heads, each firing different fireballs.
    • Getting hit by all four distinct fireballs results in death and a respawn at the Chessboard Puzzle.
  2. Crossbow Assembly:
    • During the fight, you must collect three Crossbow components:
      • Crossbow Base: Located at the North side (approx. –4345, –11155, 6490)
      • Crossbow Bow: Located at the North-East side (approx. –4800, –11185, 6610)
      • Crossbow Arrow: Located at the North-West side (approx. –4035, –11185, 6510)
    • Avoid entering the water, as this will cause you to lose collected components.
  3. Final Step:
    • Return all components to the Large Crossbow above the entrance (–4360, –11090, 7140).
    • A cutscene will play in which your assembled Crossbow is used to defeat Scylla.

After the Boss Fight

  • Players who contributed to the Crossbow construction will gain access to the remainder of the Veil of the Forsaken.
  • They will no longer encounter the Scylla boss, and the Chessboard Puzzle door remains open for continued exploration and fishing within the area.
  • Note that the Scylla Boss Fight is separate from the ongoing Scylla Hunts, which are available for those who have completed the fight.
