One of the first things you’ll notice after creating your character in Gakuran is that almost everything about them is randomly generated. Your name, height, ethnicity, hairstyle, face, and several other cosmetic features are all rolled automatically when you first join the game.
The good news is that most of these can be rerolled later if you aren’t happy with the results. Some stats are purely cosmetic, while others—especially height—can actually affect gameplay.
Gakuran Character Stats Guide – Height, Hair ID, Face ID
Here’s everything you should know before spending your Robux on rerolls.
First Name & Last Name
Your first name is completely customizable and can be between 3 and 12 characters long, giving you plenty of freedom to create the character you want.
Last names work differently. Instead of typing your own, the game randomly selects one from thousands of preset surnames based on your character’s ethnicity. Altogether, there are 4,428 different last names available.
Here’s how many surnames each ethnicity can roll:
| Ethnicity | Available Last Names |
|---|---|
| European | 838 |
| Latino | 795 |
| Middle Eastern | 769 |
| Indian | 755 |
| African | 712 |
| Japanese | 559 |
This system helps each character feel a little more authentic while still offering a huge amount of variety.
Gender
When creating your character, you’ll choose between Male and Female.
Besides changing your appearance, gender also determines which hairstyles and face options can be generated for your character.
Female characters are also around 10% slimmer than male characters, but this is simply a visual difference and doesn’t provide any gameplay advantage.
Height
Height is by far the most important rerollable stat because it actually changes how your character performs during combat.
Unlike many Roblox games where height is purely cosmetic, Gakuran makes it part of the gameplay.
If your character is taller, you’ll notice:
- Higher damage
- Slightly more HP
- Larger attack range and hitbox
- Slower movement speed
- Slower attack speed
On the other hand, shorter characters gain different advantages:
- Faster movement
- Faster attack animations
- Faster cooldowns
- Smaller hitbox
- Lower HP
- Lower overall damage
After playing for a while, I found there’s no universally “best” height. If you enjoy aggressive rushdown combat, shorter characters feel much quicker and smoother. If you’d rather trade hits and rely on stronger attacks, taller characters have the advantage.
Height Generation
Your height isn’t completely random.
Instead, the game generates your character around the average height of your chosen ethnicity and gender. Heights close to the average are common, while extremely tall or extremely short characters are much rarer.
Male Height Averages
| Ethnicity | Average Height |
|---|---|
| European | 178 cm (5’10”) |
| African | 175 cm (5’9″) |
| Middle Eastern | 173 cm (5’8″) |
| Japanese | 171 cm (5’7″) |
| Latino | 170 cm (5’7″) |
| Indian | 167 cm (5’6″) |
Female Height Averages
| Ethnicity | Average Height |
|---|---|
| European | 165 cm (5’5″) |
| African | 162 cm (5’4″) |
| Middle Eastern | 160 cm (5’3″) |
| Japanese | 159 cm (5’3″) |
| Latino | 158 cm (5’2″) |
| Indian | 155 cm (5’1″) |
For example, if you create a Japanese male character, most height rolls will be close to 171 cm (5’7″), while extremely tall or short results will be much less common.
Ethnicity
Ethnicity mainly affects your character’s appearance, available surnames, hairstyles, natural hair colors, and average height.
The game is designed around a Japanese school setting, so naturally Japanese characters are much more common.
Current generation rates are:
- 95% chance to roll Japanese
- 5% chance shared between every other ethnicity
Available ethnicities include:
- Japanese
- European
- African
- Middle Eastern
- Latino
- Indian
Because Japanese characters are so common, rolling another ethnicity is fairly uncommon unless you decide to reroll.
Age, Birthday & Grade
These three stats are generated automatically when your character is created.
You’ll receive:
- A birthday
- An age
- A school year (First Year, Second Year, or Third Year)
Right now, these don’t change combat or gameplay. They’re mainly there to make your character feel more like an actual student inside the game’s world, although the developers have hinted they may become more important in future updates.
Hair (Hair ID)
After your ethnicity and gender are generated, the game randomly picks a hairstyle from the appropriate hairstyle pool.
For example:
- Japanese females only roll hairstyles made for Japanese females.
- European males roll hairstyles from the European male pool.
Every hairstyle within that pool has an equal chance of appearing.
If you don’t like what you rolled, you can always reroll it later.
Hair Color
Hair colors are also influenced by ethnicity.
Most characters receive natural colors that match their ethnicity. Japanese characters usually roll different shades of black, while European characters have access to a much wider selection including brown, blonde, auburn, and black.
The interesting part is the dye system.
Every newly created character has:
- 95% chance to receive a natural hair color.
- 5% chance to receive a randomly generated dyed color.
That dyed color can be almost anything, including:
- Red
- Pink
- Purple
- Green
- White
- Teal
- Or countless other RGB color combinations.
Technically, every ethnicity can roll almost any color, but some colors are naturally much easier to obtain depending on which ethnicity you’re using.
Face (Face ID)
Unlike hairstyles, your face isn’t affected by ethnicity at all.
The game simply checks your gender before selecting a random face.
That means:
- Male characters roll from the male face pool.
- Female characters roll from the female face pool.
There’s also a rare bonus roll.
Every time a face is generated, there’s a 1% chance of receiving a special Mogger Face, regardless of ethnicity.
That means:
- 99% of players receive a normal face.
- 1% receive the rare Mogger face.
If appearance matters to you, this is probably one of the more satisfying rerolls since it can completely change how your character looks.
If you’re only interested in combat, I’d focus on rerolling Height first since it’s the only stat that noticeably affects gameplay. Everything else is mostly cosmetic and comes down to personal preference.
If you enjoy roleplaying or creating a unique character, then rerolling your ethnicity, hairstyle, face, and hair color is definitely worth considering. With thousands of surname combinations, dozens of hairstyles, and rare cosmetic rolls like dyed hair or the Mogger face, it’s surprisingly easy to create a character that feels completely different from everyone else.
