Picking the right Fighting Style in Gakuran isn’t as simple as choosing the rarest one. While Legendary styles look exciting, rarity doesn’t always translate into being the strongest option. Every style has its own strengths, and your playstyle matters just as much as the abilities themselves.
After comparing every passive, Heavy Attack, and overall performance in PvP, this is how I’d rank the current styles.
Roblox Gakuran Fighting Style Tier List – Best Combat Styles
S Tier
Boxing
Rarity: Epic
If I had to recommend only one Fighting Style for competitive PvP, it would probably be Boxing. It doesn’t have the flashiest abilities, but it wins fights because of how safe and reliable it is.
Its biggest advantage is Untouchable, which gives your Heavy Attack invincibility frames. Once you commit to your Heavy, opponents can’t interrupt it with normal attacks, forcing them to either dodge or land a perfectly timed parry. That alone makes Boxing incredibly frustrating to fight against.
The style becomes even stronger once you start landing Perfect Blocks. Every successful parry reduces your Heavy Attack cooldown, allowing you to pressure opponents much more often than other styles. Add in solid Guard Pierce, and Boxing stays dangerous even when enemies play defensively.
It doesn’t rely on complicated setups or perfect conditions to perform well. Whether you’re new to PvP or already experienced, Boxing remains consistently powerful in almost every fight.
Hakari
Rarity: Epic
Hakari is easily one of the most rewarding styles for aggressive players. Instead of relying on defensive mechanics, it encourages you to stay on the offensive and keep your combo going.
The standout ability is Momentum Rush. After landing a complete M1 combo without getting interrupted, you unlock a seven-second window where your next Heavy Attack deals three times its normal damage. If you catch someone during that window, the damage can completely swing the fight in your favor.
Its Heavy Attack also ragdolls opponents, giving you breathing room or an opportunity to continue applying pressure. The only catch is that you need to keep your momentum going. Missing attacks or getting interrupted means you’ll have to build your combo all over again.
Once you learn its rhythm, Hakari feels incredibly satisfying and has one of the highest damage ceilings in the game.
A Tier
Muay Thai
Rarity: Rare
Don’t let the lower rarity fool you—Muay Thai performs far better than many players expect.
This style is built around constantly wearing opponents down. It has the highest Guard Pierce currently available, meaning even players who sit behind their block continue taking noticeable chip damage. On top of that, its Heavy Attack knocks opponents into a ragdoll state, creating opportunities to stay aggressive.
Another reason Muay Thai ranks so highly is its posture damage. Blocking against this style quickly becomes risky, forcing opponents to either fight back or risk having their guard broken.
It may not have the explosive burst damage of Hakari or the safety of Boxing, but if you enjoy relentless pressure and forcing mistakes, Muay Thai is an excellent choice.
B Tier
Wrestling
Rarity: Legendary
Wrestling is probably the most surprising style in Gakuran because it’s the only Legendary style, yet many experienced players don’t consider it the strongest.
Its signature Heavy Attack grabs the opponent before slamming them into the ground for increased damage. Thanks to Hyper Armor, the attack can’t be interrupted by normal hits, making it scary whenever it connects.
The downside is what happens when it doesn’t connect.
Missing your grab leaves you stuck in a lengthy recovery animation, giving experienced opponents plenty of time to punish you. Against newer players Wrestling feels incredibly strong, but once people learn to dodge or parry the grab, it becomes much less reliable.
It’s still a fun style with excellent grapple potential, but it requires much more careful timing than its rarity might suggest.
Karate
Rarity: Rare
Karate doesn’t specialize in one particular area, and that’s actually what makes it appealing.
Instead of focusing entirely on offense or defense, it rewards players who enjoy a slower, more patient fighting style. Perfect Blocking temporarily increases your posture regeneration, while landing Heavy Attacks restores some of your posture, allowing you to stay in fights longer.
Nothing about Karate feels overpowered, but nothing feels weak either. It gives you reliable tools without asking you to constantly chase complicated combos or risky setups.
If you’re still learning the combat system or simply prefer balanced gameplay, Karate is a comfortable choice that performs well in almost every situation.
C Tier
Basic
Rarity: Common
Every player starts with Basic, and while it’s perfectly usable, it quickly shows its limitations once you unlock stronger styles.
Its passive abilities are straightforward. Perfect Blocking slightly boosts your next attack, and your posture regenerates faster than normal, making it forgiving for beginners who are still learning combat mechanics.
The problem is that Basic doesn’t have a defining strength. It lacks the burst damage of Hakari, the defensive utility of Boxing, and the pressure offered by Muay Thai. As you unlock higher-tier styles, there’s very little reason to keep using it unless you simply enjoy its straightforward playstyle.
For learning the fundamentals, though, it’s more than enough.
Fighting Style Drop Rates
Every Fighting Style belongs to one of four rarity groups.
| Rarity | Chance |
|---|---|
| Common | 59% |
| Rare | 30% |
| Epic | 11% |
| Legendary | 9% |
Although Legendary styles are the rarest to obtain, they aren’t automatically the strongest. Right now, many competitive players actually prefer Boxing or Hakari over Wrestling.
If you’re aiming to play competitively, Boxing is currently the safest recommendation thanks to its reliable Heavy Attack and strong defensive tools. Players who enjoy fast, aggressive gameplay will probably have the most fun with Hakari, while Muay Thai is perfect if you like constantly pressuring opponents and slowly breaking through their defenses.
Karate remains a solid all-rounder that never feels weak, and Wrestling can still be devastating in the right hands despite its risky Heavy Attack. As for Basic, it’s a great starting point while you’re learning the game’s mechanics, but it’s usually worth upgrading once you get the chance.
That said, don’t feel forced into chasing only S-tier styles. Gakuran’s combat rewards timing, spacing, and smart decision-making far more than rarity alone, so a skilled player with a lower-ranked style can still beat someone relying only on powerful passives.
