If you’re trying to unlock the new character Maverick in the Gatekeeper DLC, the biggest hurdle is actually getting to the new planet first. The game doesn’t spell it out clearly, so it’s easy to miss the exact path you need to take.
This guide walks through how to reach Crustad and what you need to do once you’re there to unlock Maverick.
How to Enter Planet Crustad
To reach Crustad, you first need to progress to Palium, which is the fifth planet.
Once you’re there, defeat the planet’s boss like you normally would. After that, head into the Corrupted Quorium, the same place you would normally go when preparing for the Chaos boss fight.
Inside the Corrupted Quorium hub area, you’ll find a new portal called Mutated Quorium. Entering this specific version is what takes you to the new planet, Crustad.
One thing that can be confusing is that Mutated Quorium also appears in the regular hub area on planet Delta. That version does not lead to Crustad — it sends you to the Iron Range instead.
How to Unlock Maverick
Once you arrive on Crustad, you just need to play through the stage normally.
Eventually, you’ll reach the Amphitheater, which is the boss arena for Lord Crustad. Defeat this boss to unlock access to a new area behind the arena.
Head into that back section, and you’ll find a twin-spear style weapon lying on the ground. Picking it up immediately unlocks Maverick.
