Life in inZOI may seem cozy at first, but danger lurks beneath its simulation charm. Just like in real life, your Zois aren’t immortal — they can meet tragic ends through accidents, natural disasters, or even unfinished mechanics coded into the game.
This guide covers all the confirmed causes of death in inZOI (as of v0.3.0), theories about how they work, and future deaths that may be added later.
inZOI Death Guide v0.3.0 (Island Getaway DLC) 2025
Confirmed Deaths in inZOI (v0.3.0)
Death by Drowning
Description: “Zoi has died from a lack of oxygen.”
Status: In the game, but appears buggy. Players receive drowning warnings, but actual deaths are inconsistent.
Theory: Likely triggered by low Energy need while swimming. If a Zoi doesn’t rest or stops mid-swim with low stamina, they’re at risk.
Death by Shark Attack
Description: “Zoi has been killed by a shark.”
How it Happens: In Bliss Bay and Cahaya, certain waters are shark-infested. Entering these areas prompts a warning, and lingering too long results in death.
Tip: Check Cahaya’s Lessons or the in-game town map to locate shark zones before sending your Zoi out for a swim.
Death by Jellyfish Attack
Description: “Zoi has perished from a jellyfish sting.”
How it Happens: Like sharks, jellyfish infest specific waters in Bliss Bay and Cahaya. A warning pops up when you enter these areas. Ignoring it leads to a painful sting and eventual death.
Tip: Always scan the map or use warnings to identify safe swimming zones.
Death by Lightning
Description: “Zoi passed away after being struck by lightning.”
How it Happens: Occurs when your Zoi is outdoors during a Heavy Rain natural disaster.
Worlds: Confirmed in Cahaya, though it can be forced in other maps through cheats.
Tip: Keep Zois indoors during heavy weather unless you’re intentionally testing fate.
Future / Unfinished Deaths
Looking into the game’s code, several deaths exist in some form but are not yet fully functional:
Death by Embarrassment – The interaction exists, but no official death notification appears. Possibly near-complete.
Death by High Fever – Trigger is coded but currently does nothing.
Death by Hypothermia – A separate trigger from freezing exists, but again, not functional yet.
The Mythical “Death by Pollution”
There’s a persistent rumor about Zois dying from pollution, often tied to dirty houses or city smog. However, no evidence exists in the game files to support this. It remains an internet myth unless officially confirmed in later updates.
Update Log
v0.3.0 introduced:
- Death by Drowning
- Death by Shark Attack
- Death by Jellyfish Attack
- Death by Lightning
While most deaths in inZOI are still experimental or tied to specific environments, they add a layer of realism and unpredictability to your Zoi’s life. Right now, Shark and Jellyfish deaths are the most reliable ways to lose a Zoi, while drowning and lightning remain situational or buggy.
