With Kaiju No. 8: The Game finally dropping, a lot of players are asking the same two questions: Who should I reroll for? Which 5★ unit should I claim from the free selector? I’ve broken everything down so you know exactly where to start for the strongest possible account.
Kaiju No. 8 Best Reroll Guide
When you reroll, your main goal is to walk away with two strong 5★ units plus your free selector. Here are the priority targets of Kaiju No. 8 Best Reroll:
1. Narumi Gen
Narumi is the only unit right now with two attributes (Slash & Shooting Resistance) built into his kit. This makes him extremely versatile since boss fights require breaking multiple “plates” of resistances.
Narumi can hit two resistances at once, saving team slots and making him one of the most efficient openers in the game.
2. Kafka Hibino (Kaiju No. 8 Form)
Kafka brings Hit Resistance Break on both of his skills. This matters because very few characters can apply this debuff, and bosses frequently require it.
Other Hit Resistance breakers like Iso or Hoshina only apply it with one skill, making Kafka far more reliable.
3. Mina Ashiro
- Mina specializes in Shooting Resistance Break and provides excellent damage support for early boss fights.
- She may not be as versatile as Narumi, but paired with him or Kafka, she rounds out your team perfectly.
Free 5★ Selector
Everyone gets one guaranteed 5★ thanks to pre-registration rewards. The best choices are:
Kafka (Kaiju No. 8) if you don’t pull him while rerolling. He’s too valuable to pass up.
Narumi if you somehow miss him, since his dual-attribute utility will carry you through most early bosses.
Mina as a safe third pick if you already secure both Kafka and Narumi.
Don’t Overlook 4★ Units
Even though 5★ characters dominate early tier lists, several 4★ elemental units are extremely important. Some bosses require Fire, Ice, Wind, or Water resistance breaks, and at launch, only 4★ characters cover these.
Healer + Elemental breakers like Kikoru’s elemental variants may end up mandatory for certain fights.
Keep them built in your roster—you’ll need them when purple “special resistance” plates appear in boss battles.
New Banner – Reno Ichikawa (Weapon Six Suit)
Just before launch, the developers dropped a surprise: Reno with his upgraded Weapon Six suit.
He appears to have Ice-element abilities, making him the first 5★ with a direct elemental break rather than leaving that role to 4★ units.
If elemental resistance mechanics become a bigger part of endgame bosses, Reno could skyrocket to the top of the meta.
He’s not in the free selector, so you’ll need to pull for him on his banner.
Best Starting Team Recommendation
If you want the smoothest progression:
Reroll Goal: Kafka (Kaiju No. 8) + Narumi
Free Selector: Mina (if missing) OR whichever of the top two you didn’t pull
Keep strong 4★s: Especially elemental ones for purple plate mechanics
This setup gives you coverage for most boss resistances, strong synergy in early stages, and a long-term foundation for harder fights.
