Koltera 2 Beginner Guide Wiki – Basic Awakening & FAQ

This guide explains how Awakening works in Koltera 2 and what it actually gives you. Awakening becomes important once your creatures start reaching higher levels, and understanding it early can make progression much smoother.

Koltera 2 Beginner Guide Wiki – Basic Awakening & FAQ

Creatures can Awaken once they reach Level 70 for the first time. The only way to reach Level 70 is through Expeditions.

To reach Level 70, a creature needs a total of 245,000 experience.

If you average about 1 XP per second, it will take roughly:

  • 67 hours (about 3 days) to Awaken a creature

At slower XP rates it can take roughly twice as long, although the time improves as you unlock better XP generation.

Because of this, it can be useful to send all available creatures on Expeditions early on, even if that means you temporarily lose helpers. The idea is to Awaken as many creatures as possible first, then start using helpers later.

That said, helpers can still be useful if you want to passively collect charms or meat, so the best option depends on how you prefer to play.

Basic Training Tips

Long Expeditions are actually beneficial.

XP is now gained immediately while the expedition is running, not only when it finishes. Because of this, extremely long expeditions are fine. Some players have seen expedition timers exceeding:

  • 138 hours
  • even up to 293,750 minutes in extreme cases

Efficiency does not affect XP gained directly. It mainly affects how fast an expedition finishes, which influences how quickly better XP rates unlock.

However, restarting expeditions can still be useful sometimes. For example:

  • When an expedition duration becomes extremely long
  • When creatures have gained several levels during the run
  • Especially when starting with Level 1 creatures

Restarting can reduce completion times and improve overall progress.

Awakening

The Creatures tab shows some basic Awakening information, but here is what it actually provides.

Awakening Bonuses

When a creature awakens, it gains several benefits:

  • Level cap increases to 120
Creatures can continue gaining XP beyond Level 70.
  • +1 Passive Gold Gain
You gain one extra gold per minute.
  • +1 Awaken Point
This point can be spent in the Awaken Tree.

In addition to this, your first Awakening unlocks two new tabs:

  • Awaken Tree
  • Sanctuary

Awakening Creatures

Once a creature reaches Level 70, go to the Creatures tab and awaken it immediately.

Creatures that are ready to awaken will appear highlighted in yellow. At this point they stop gaining XP, so you should awaken them as soon as possible.

After awakening:

  • Their name turns pink
  • You receive an Awaken Point
  • The Awaken Tree becomes available

Awaken Tree

The Awaken Tree is a progression system where you spend Awaken Points.

How the Tree Works

  • Each square in the tree costs 1 point
  • You must unlock squares in sequence along a path
  • Each upgrade requires confirmation before being applied
  • Points cannot be reset, so choose upgrades carefully

You cannot permanently ruin your progression, but poor choices can slow down how quickly you unlock new summons.

Recommended Investments

Two investment paths are especially useful early on.

Workstation Quantity Focus

Upgrading workstations gives massive production increases.

Each workstation requires 7 points to fully upgrade quantity.

Two important ones are:

  • Workbench
  • Stove

For example:

  • Workbench upgrade → craft 3 tools instead of 1
  • Stove upgrade → cook 3 items instead of 1

Because these use materials from many gathering skills and the garden, upgrading them dramatically improves overall resource generation.

Fully upgrading both requires 14 Awakened creatures.

Gathering Quantity Focus

After upgrading the Workbench and Stove, investing in +1 Yield for gathering skills is extremely strong.

These bonuses also apply to Helpers.

A single +1 yield upgrade (for about 3 points) can double your resource gains, especially when combined with workstation multipliers.

By this point production can easily be 3–9 times faster than before.

Sanctuary

Once unlocked, the Sanctuary tab lets you place Awakened creatures to provide passive bonuses.

Think of it like assigning helpers, except the creature contributes proficiency from all jobs simultaneously.

The bonuses depend on your Sanctuary Score.

Sanctuary Tiers

Tier Bonus Score Requirement
Tier 1 +20% Job XP 6 – 17
Tier 2 -10% Duration 18+
Tier 3 +20% Job XP Higher threshold
Tier 4 -10% Duration Higher threshold
Tier 5 +1 Yield Highest threshold

The exact upper thresholds are still unclear.

Because the bonuses depend on total score (0–60), the Sanctuary is not very powerful early on. It becomes much stronger once you have:

  • many creatures unlocked
  • multiple Awakened creatures
  • higher job proficiencies

Each tier activates once the threshold is reached, but extra points beyond a tier do nothing unless they reach the next tier requirement.

This system is still being explored, and more details may appear as players experiment further.

Koltera 2 currently lacks an in-game explanation or wiki for many of these mechanics, so some values and behaviors are still being figured out.
