Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library may look like a calm organizing game at first, but once you start playing, you quickly realize how much detail and memory it actually requires. Between managing shelves, tracking book placements, and searching for hidden keys, it can get overwhelming for new players.
This guide brings everything together in one place so you can understand the core mechanics, avoid common mistakes, and progress faster without constantly running around or getting stuck.
Librarian Tidy Up the Arcane Library Beginner Guide Wiki – Maps, Keys
Before diving into keys and book placements, there are a couple of important mechanics that the game does not explain clearly.
The Assemble ability does not pull books from shelves. This means if you place books on shelves as temporary storage, they will stay there and will not be collected automatically. Because of this, you should avoid using shelves as storage unless you are sure those books belong there.
The Insight ability does not highlight books that are already placed on shelves, whether they are correct or incorrect. Insight only helps with loose books, so once something is placed, you need to rely on your own organization and memory.
Understanding these two mechanics early will save you a lot of confusion later.
Maps and Book Placement System
The game provides maps that show where books are supposed to go, usually located near the stairs. These maps are very useful early on, as they help you understand how shelves are organized.
There are separate maps for the first floor and the second floor, and each one shows the correct placement zones for different categories of books.
At the start, you will likely need to check these maps often. However, as you unlock perks and get familiar with the layout, you will naturally remember placements and rely less on them.
A good habit is to mentally group shelves by type rather than constantly running back to check the map.
Books Guide (Shelves of 3 and 5)
Some shelves require smaller sets of books instead of full large collections. These are especially useful because they allow you to complete shelves faster without searching for a full series.
For shelves that require 3 books, examples include titles related to magical theory and arcane science, such as works discussing mana, magical equations, and spell construction.
For shelves that require 5 books, these often focus on themes like language, communication, and magical linguistics. These collections are slightly larger but still easier to complete compared to full shelves.
Focusing on these smaller shelves early can help you progress faster and keep your library organized without getting overwhelmed by large collections.
Key Locations
Keys are one of the most important progression systems in the game, as they unlock abilities that make your life much easier.
Crimson Octagon Key
This is the first key you should find. It is located right at the start of the game, hanging beneath a crest when you first load in. This key unlocks the jump ability, which is required to reach many other areas and keys.
Golden Diamond Key
This key is hidden inside one of the decorative vases on the stair banisters. It is located near the Crimson Chest area. You need to jump onto the vase and look inside to find it. This key increases your carry capacity by +3, allowing you to move more books at once.
Azure Star Key
You can find this key on the second floor. Head to the opposite side of the room and check the back shelves. It is placed on the top-right shelf, so you will need to look up carefully. This key gives you +2 additional carry capacity.
Emerald Club Key
This one is slightly tricky to find. It is located on a bench on the right side of a table near a scale. The key is actually buried under a pile of books, so you will need to move them around to uncover it. This key unlocks the Sprint ability, which makes movement much faster.
Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library rewards patience and organization more than speed. Once you understand how abilities work, where keys are located, and how book placement is structured, the game becomes much more manageable.
Take your time, learn the layout, and avoid rushing placements. With the right approach, you will turn the chaotic library into a perfectly organized system much faster than expected.
