Moventure Beginner Guide WIki – Chest Location, Controls

If you are just starting Moventure, the treasure system can feel confusing at first. The game does not really hold your hand, and many treasure locations expect you to already understand the movement mechanics. I honestly missed several early treasures simply because I did not realize how many hidden movement tricks the game had.

The important thing to understand is that treasures in Moventure are usually less about solving hard puzzles and more about learning how the movement works. Once you start understanding wall jumps, crawling, gliding, and item interactions, treasure hunting becomes one of the most fun parts of the game.

Before going after every hidden chest, it really helps to learn the basic controls and movement mechanics first because the game expects you to combine them constantly.

Moventure Beginner Guide WIki – Chest Location, Controls

At first glance, the controls look simple, but almost every button has extra uses attached to it.

Moving Left and Right

This is your normal movement, but later you will combine movement with running, rolling, climbing, and wall jumping. Try getting comfortable with movement speed early because platforming becomes much tighter in later chapters.

Looking Up

Holding Up does more than you might expect. In some areas, it moves the camera upward so you can check platforms or hidden routes above you. I started doing this constantly later in the game because many treasure paths are hidden slightly off-screen.

Crouching and Sitting

Pressing Down makes Leo crouch, but holding it longer makes him sit down.

This sounds pointless at first, but sitting is actually tied to several mechanics later, including removing clothes and shoes for puzzle solving. The game has a lot of weird interactions like this, so never assume something is useless.

Learning How Jumping Works

Jumping is probably the most important thing to master if you want treasures.

You can tap Jump for a small hop or hold it for a much higher jump. The game expects you to control jump height very carefully in later areas, especially during platforming sections with tight ledges.

One mechanic that helped me a lot early on was the charge jump.

Charge Jump

If you hold Up and press Jump, Leo performs a much stronger vertical jump.

This move is extremely important for treasures because it helps you:

  • Reach hidden ledges
  • Break cracked ceilings
  • Access secret routes
  • Skip difficult jumps

A lot of treasure rooms quietly expect you to know this already. If something feels just slightly too high, try using a charge jump first.

Running Changes Everything

To run, hold a direction and press Interact.

This gives Leo much more momentum and makes crossing large gaps much easier. Some treasure routes are almost impossible without running first because normal jumps simply do not travel far enough.

Running also unlocks other useful mechanics like rolling and long leap jumps.

Crawling Through Small Spaces

To crawl, press Down and then quickly press Left or Right.

This becomes important much earlier than I expected because the game loves hiding treasure paths inside tiny tunnels or narrow spaces that look inaccessible at first glance.

Whenever you see a suspicious gap near the floor, there is a good chance crawling is the answer.

Wall Jumping Takes Practice

Wall jumping is where many beginners struggle, including me.

When you jump against a wall while holding toward it, Leo briefly grabs onto the wall. During that moment, release and quickly press Jump again to launch away from it.

The timing feels awkward at first, and you will probably slam into walls a lot while learning. That is completely normal. Once you get used to the rhythm, though, treasure hunting becomes much easier because so many secret areas rely on wall jumps.

Chapter 5 especially starts expecting players to know this mechanic properly.

Using the Hat Glide

After getting the hat, movement becomes much more fun.

If you jump and hold Up together with Jump, Leo glides through the air using the hat. This lets you cross huge gaps and reach hidden treasure areas that seem impossible initially.

The glide works best when combined with:

  • Charge jumps
  • Wall jumps
  • Running starts

Some later treasures even expect you to throw the hat ahead of yourself and land on it for extra height. It sounds ridiculous, but the game absolutely allows creative movement tricks like that.

Treasure Hunting

One thing I learned quickly is that Moventure rewards experimentation more than perfect platforming.

If you cannot reach a treasure immediately, the answer is usually one of these:

  • You are missing a movement mechanic
  • You need to combine mechanics together
  • There is a hidden route nearby
  • An item interaction solves the problem

Do not be afraid to revisit old levels later after learning new movement tricks. Several treasures become dramatically easier once you understand gliding, wall jumping, or advanced movement combinations.

The game is designed around discovery, and honestly, figuring out weird movement solutions is what makes treasure hunting so satisfying in the first place.
