The Mesa biome brings 10 new badges (achievements) to PEAK — some can be earned anywhere, others are specific to the Mesa area.
This guide explains exactly how to unlock each one, plus tips to avoid common bugs.
1. Badges You Can Earn Anywhere
Resourcefulness Badge – “Give in to your hunger.”
- Mode: Multiplayer only
- Let your hunger bar drop until your teammates appear as roast chickens (yes, really).
- Walk up to one, press E to eat them.
- This kills the teammate and unlocks the badge.
Ultimate Badge – “Catch a flying disc from 100m away.”
- Mode: Multiplayer only
- Discs spawn with plane crash loot.
- One player throws the disc from 100 meters away — a running jump helps get distance.
- A good method: Have one player throw it from the campfire area down to the others so you can still hear them but with a faint echo (a sign you’re far enough).
- Bug note: Some players report it won’t unlock for the lobby host or is generally broken.
Aeronautics Badge – “Achieve flight.”
- Mode: Solo or Multiplayer
- You’ll need balloons, found in suitcases as singles or triple packs.
- Eat them to tether yourself to the balloon.
- Once you have 6 balloons total (usually 2–3 packs), you’ll start floating and unlock the badge.
- This is RNG-based — not every run will spawn enough balloons.
2. Badges in the Mesa Biome
The Mesa biome is always active during the update week. After that, it alternates with Alpine on the 3rd phase every other day.
Nomad Badge – “Climb past the Mesa.”
- Can be done solo.
- Simply reach the campfire at the very top of the Mesa to unlock.
Cool Cucumber Badge – “Climb the Mesa without exceeding 10% Heat.”
- Stay out of direct sunlight during the day (sun exposure increases Heat).
- Follow the shadowed paths to reach the base of the climb.
- Wait until night before climbing.
- Repeat shadow-hopping until you reach the top.
- Easier on low difficulty with good gear.
Daredevil Badge – “Shoot across the Mesa canyon in a Scout Cannon.”
- Place a Scout Cannon at the edge of the canyon before the climb.
- Fire yourself across — sometimes taking a few steps after landing helps it register.
- If it doesn’t pop, try launching from the top of the Mesa instead.
Astronomy Badge – “Look a little too closely at the blazing sun.”
- Bring the binoculars from the plane crash to the Mesa.
- During the day, aim them directly at the sun until the badge pops.
Megaentomology Badge – “Survive an Antlion attack.”
- Found in the chasm before the Mesa climb.
- Take a hit or two from the Antlion, then escape.
- You can also let it down you and have a friend revive you outside the chasm.
Needlepoint Badge – “Get covered in cactus spines.”
- You’ll need 5 cactus balls (small ones that can be picked up).
- Let them stick to you by hitting you with some velocity — throw them at a wall or toss them in the air so they land on you.
- Too many thorns in your stamina bar will knock you out, so gather them nearby first.
- In multiplayer, have friends throw them at you at the same time for an easier unlock.
24 Karat Badge – “Offer The Kiln a worthy sacrifice.”
- Likely involves finding a special item inside a hidden tomb in the Mesa, then tossing it into The Kiln’s lava.
- May be bugged or unfinished — reports say it’s not currently working.
