VV is finally here, and if you’re jumping in on release day, you’re honestly in a much better position than the players who spent their time testing earlier versions of the game.
I’ve been watching gameplay, community discussions, and early-access experiences closely, and one thing became clear very quickly: VV has a lot of systems that the game doesn’t fully explain. If you understand them early, you’ll level faster, unlock your progression sooner, and avoid mistakes that can take hours to fix later.
Some of these tips seem small at first, but they can save you from wasting resources, picking the wrong progression path, or getting stuck wondering why everyone else is advancing faster than you.
Let’s go through the most important things every new VV player should know.
Fix Your FPS Before You Even Start Playing
This might genuinely be the most important beginner tip in the entire guide.
When you first enter VV, open the game’s settings menu and disable:
- Shadows
- Dynamic Clothing Movement
Do not change Roblox settings. Change the settings inside VV itself.
These two visual effects look nice, but they consume a surprising amount of performance. Many testers reported noticeably smoother gameplay after disabling them, especially during large fights and events.
VV is a combat-focused game where reaction speed matters. If turning off a couple of visual effects gives you smoother combat and fewer frame drops, it’s absolutely worth doing.
If you’ve heard horror stories about how difficult VV was during testing, don’t let that scare you away.
The launch version has been adjusted and is generally more forgiving than what many early-access players experienced.
That doesn’t mean progression is effortless. You’ll still need to grind, complete missions, and learn combat mechanics. But most players shouldn’t feel overwhelmed simply trying to reach their first major progression milestone.
My advice is simple: don’t let community complaints discourage you before you’ve even played the game yourself.
Choosing Your Race
One of the first major decisions you’ll make is selecting your race.
The launch version gives players three choices:
- Soul Reaper
- Hollow
- Quincy
Each one offers a very different progression experience.
Soul Reaper
Soul Reapers are probably the easiest race for most Bleach fans to understand.
Your primary progression revolves around obtaining a Shikai and eventually unlocking stronger abilities later on.
One thing many players don’t realize is that weapon choice matters a lot.
Different weapons have:
- Different attack speeds
- Different M1 attack animations
- Different critical attacks
- Different combat flow
Instead of blindly following a tier list, spend some time figuring out what feels comfortable.
Available launch Shikai options include:
- Reversal
- Ice
- Flame
- Waypoint
- Ink
- Senbonzakura
If you enjoy traditional sword combat mixed with powerful abilities, Soul Reaper is a very safe choice.
Hollow
Hollows probably have the most unique progression path in the game.
As a Hollow, you can consume other Hollows and gain random traits.
Initially, this sounds amazing.
The problem is that traits are difficult to remove later.
Because of that, many experienced players recommend waiting until you become a Vasto Lorde before seriously farming traits.
Here’s why:
- You gain access to more trait potential later.
- You have a better understanding of your build.
- You avoid getting stuck with traits you don’t actually want.
Once you become a Vasto Lorde, you’ll eventually have access to four trait slots instead of three.
Just remember that traits become especially important once you unlock Resurrection.
Launch Resurrection options include:
- Frozen Haze
- Alumeria
- Electro
- Theory
- Shark
- Los Lobos
If you enjoy monster evolution systems and long-term character building, Hollow progression is extremely rewarding.
Quincy
Personally, Quincy looks like one of the coolest races in VV.
You gain access to several major systems:
- Quincy movement abilities
- Schrift powers
- Letzt Stil progression
- Weapon evolution
The weapon evolution mechanic is particularly interesting.
Your starting weapon isn’t something you’ll immediately replace. Instead, it evolves alongside your progression, becoming stronger and gaining improved functionality.
Available Schrift options include:
- Blade Master
- Thunderbolt
- Dimensional
- Necro Monster
- Heat
- Superstar
Players who enjoy aggressive combat and unique ability combinations will probably feel right at home with Quincy.
Start Collecting Modifier Stones Immediately
Even if you don’t understand them yet, keep every Modifier Stone you find.
These become important later when optimizing gear.
Modifier Stones can be attached to equipment and armor, providing additional stat bonuses that help strengthen your build.
Early on, the bonuses might not seem game-changing.
Later, however, proper modifiers can make a noticeable difference in both PvE and PvP performance.
Future you will thank present you for not throwing them away.
The Moment You Reach Level 25, Start Meditating
This is one of the biggest progression mistakes beginners make.
As soon as you hit Level 25, begin meditating.
Meditation is tied directly to unlocking your race’s major power system:
- Soul Reapers unlock Shikai progression.
- Hollows unlock equivalent progression paths.
- Quincies unlock Schrift progression.
Meditation is activated by pressing M.
To continue progressing through meditation, simply play the game.
You gain meditation experience through:
- Fighting enemies
- Completing missions
- Participating in events
- Defeating enemy players
A lot of players delay meditation because they assume they’ll do it later.
Don’t.
The sooner you begin, the sooner you’ll unlock your core abilities.
Always Return to Your Home World for Missions
If your goal is efficient leveling, missions are essential.
After completing your initiation questline, you’ll gain access to repeatable missions using tickets.
Keep an eye on the ticket counter in the upper-right corner of your screen.
Tickets allow you to:
- Accept missions
- Earn experience
- Progress faster
- Unlock promotions
Promotions are especially important because they unlock harder quests that reward significantly more experience.
Whenever you wonder why another player is leveling faster than you, there’s a good chance they’re staying on top of missions and promotions.
Never Ignore Events
VV events are incredibly valuable.
Some of the most important events include:
- Supply Caches
- Raids
- World Events
These activities often provide:
- Experience
- Progression experience
- Valuable drops
- Resources
Even if you’re focused on grinding mobs, taking a few minutes to join an active event is usually worth it.
Turn Off PvP Protection During Certain Events
A common beginner mistake happens during Supply Cache events.
Players arrive at the event and suddenly can’t attack anyone or contribute.
Usually, the problem is PvP protection.
Look at the top-right corner of your screen and find the shield icon.
Disable it when participating in PvP-focused activities.
Without doing this, you’ll often miss out on event participation and rewards.
The Dangai Is One of the Best Progression Methods
Whenever the Dangai opens, you should seriously consider joining.
The Dangai offers:
- Excellent experience
- Progression gains
- PvP opportunities
- Fast advancement
However, it’s dangerous.
You’ll be fighting enemy factions while trying to avoid the infamous train that periodically sweeps through the area and kills players caught in its path.
The biggest thing to remember is this:
Only enemy faction kills matter.
Fighting your own faction gives you nothing.
Find opposing faction players, defeat them, and you’ll earn valuable progression rewards.
The game announces when the Dangai opens, so pay attention to system notifications.
Spirit Charms
If there is one system newer players tend to misuse, it’s Spirit Charms.
Spirit Charms come in tiers ranging from Tier 1 to Tier 5 and can dramatically affect your character’s performance.
The important part is understanding nodes.
When you unlock charm nodes, the first three can be used freely without penalties.
After that, things become risky.
For example:
- Using three total charm tiers is safe.
- Exceeding that threshold starts reducing your maximum health.
- Higher-tier combinations create larger penalties.
This means stronger isn’t always better.
A Tier 5 charm might sound amazing until you realize it’s removing a huge chunk of your survivability.
Think of Spirit Charms as a build-crafting system rather than simple upgrades.
Don’t Equip Random Spirit Charms
This deserves its own section because the mistake is extremely common.
New players find a charm, see better stats, and immediately equip it.
Later they discover it doesn’t fit their build.
Unfortunately, removing charms isn’t simple.
You generally need access to the Spirit Realm through:
- A Doctor NPC service
- A rare Purple Portal event
The Purple Portal has a very low spawn chance, so don’t rely on finding one when you suddenly decide you want to change your build.
My recommendation is to stockpile charms early and only commit when you have enough options to properly compare them.
