The Pigment Workshop is where your manuscripts really start to look unique. At first it feels like random mixing, but once you understand how it works, you can consistently create the exact colors you want instead of guessing.
This guide explains everything clearly, including how pigments work, how to mix them, and all known color combinations.
Scriptorium Master of Manuscripts Guide – Pigment Workshop
The system is simple once you see it in action.
- You create basic pigments using a single flower
- You can combine two pigments to make a new color
- Finished pigments are stored in shells
- You can remove any pigment by washing it in the water bowl
There are also special tools involved:
- The turtle is used to grind and mash pigments
- The dragon is used when heating materials like gold
As you progress through the game, you unlock:
- More flowers
- More shell slots
- Additional pigments and items in the shop
How Pigments Actually Work
Every color starts from a base flower. Once you have two pigments, you can combine them to create a new one.
The important thing to understand is:
- Mixing is not random
- Each combination always gives the same result
- Order does not matter, only the pair of colors
So once you learn combinations, you can reliably craft what you want every time.
Gold Pigment (Special Case)
Gold works differently from normal colors.
To create gold-based dyes:
- Place the gold bar first
- Heat it using the dragon
- Add a flower pigment
This creates shiny or glowing versions of colors.
Some flowers like:
- King’s Panty Pink II
- Lavender Garden II
already have reflective or patterned effects, making them even more valuable.

Instead of random mixing, you start planning colors ahead of time, saving rare ingredients, and crafting exactly what you need for your manuscripts.
Once you reach that point, the system goes from confusing to one of the best parts of the game.
