Songs of Glimmerwick Recipe Guide – Cooking, Baking Tips

If you are getting into baking in Songs of Glimmerwick, you’ll quickly realize that there are quite a few different ingredients and baked goods to keep track of. Some recipes are useful for Mana and Fishing bonuses, while others can make you a decent amount of Petals.

In this guide, I’ll explain how the baking system works, where you can get Flour, how to turn it into Dough, and where you can bake your items. I’ll also go through the currently known baked goods and compare their ingredient costs with their selling prices.

I’m still keeping an eye out for more recipes and entries, so this guide may be updated as more baking combinations are discovered. For now, let’s go through everything we know about baking in Glimmerwick.

Songs of Glimmerwick Recipe Guide – Cooking, Baking Tips

Before you start baking, you first need Flour.

There are currently a couple of ways to get it.

How to Get Flour

The easiest way is to purchase Flour directly from the Miller.

  • Flour costs 20 Petals each.

You can also make Flour yourself by grinding Wheat.

To do that, you’ll need:

  • Wheat Seeds
  • A Wheatmill

Wheat Seeds cost 20 Petals each, while the Wheatmill schematic can be purchased for 650 Petals in Wisk through Practical Practice.

Once you have your Flour, you’re ready to make Dough.

How to Make Dough

Put the Flour either in your hotbar or inventory.

Then click and drag the Flour onto your Watering Can tool.

Your Watering Can needs to contain water for this to work.

Once you combine them, the Flour will turn into Dough.

How to Add Ingredients to Dough

Now you can combine your Dough with different ingredients.

Simply click and drag an ingredient onto the Dough.

If that ingredient can be baked, you’ll create a special item called [Ingredient Name] Dough.

For example, combining Dough with Dandelion creates Dandelion Dough, which can then be baked into Dandelion Bread.

Where to Bake Your Dough

Once you’ve prepared your Dough, you’ll need to take it to one of the available cooking locations.

Interact with the fire and place your Dough or ingredient-based Dough into the cooking slot.

The item will gradually cook over time.

Once the cooking process is finished, the baked product will appear in the slot on the right.

One important thing to remember: don’t right-click the finished product, because doing so will immediately consume it.

Current Cooking Locations

You can currently bake your items at these locations:

  • The Etchery – Common Room
  • The Etchery – Library
  • Wisk – The Cup & Kettle — inaccessible until Summer
  • The Ochre Woods – Hideout — quest locked

The Cacophony Curse and Flour

There is an important change to the Miller that you should know about.

After the Cacophony Curse is introduced, the Miller will no longer sell Flour or Wheat. This starts the Cursed Mill task.

You’ll need to resolve The Cursed Mill before the Miller’s normal Flour supply becomes available again.

After breaking the curse, the Miller will sell 5 Flour for 800 Petals.

The exact duration of this change is still being checked, so keep this in mind if you’re planning a large baking session.

Baking Profit and Recipe List

The profit numbers below are calculated using:

Product Price – (20 Wheat Price + Ingredient Base Price)

These calculations do not include the 40% increase from the relevant skill.

Except for the basic Dough entry, the recipes below use another ingredient combined with Dough.

Which Baked Goods Give the Most Profit?

If you’re mainly interested in making Petals from baking, some recipes stand out more than others.

Fisherman’s Pie currently has a listed profit of 27, making it one of the most profitable entries in the list.

Sweet Maize Cake has a listed profit of 25, although its season availability is currently unknown.

Veggie Hand Pie gives 22 profit, while Cucumber Sandwich and Chocolate Babka both provide 20 profit.

So, if you’re choosing recipes purely based on the listed profit, these are some of the ones I’d keep an eye on.

Don’t Ignore the Effects

Profit isn’t the only reason to bake.

Many of these foods provide useful effects, especially Mana and Fishing bonuses.

For example, Moon Poppy Donut provides +55 Mana and 3 Speed, while Chocolate Babka provides a massive +91 Mana.

If you’re doing Fishing activities, recipes such as Fisherman’s Pie, Forest Galette, Mushroom Dumplings, and Veggie Hand Pie can be more useful because of their Fishing bonuses.

So, before selling everything you bake, I’d recommend checking the effects first. A food that gives you a useful bonus may be worth keeping instead of selling for a few extra Petals.

Baking in Songs of Glimmerwick is a pretty straightforward system once you understand the basic process. Get Flour, turn it into Dough using a Watering Can, combine the Dough with a suitable ingredient, and then take it to one of the cooking locations.

The main thing I would watch is your ingredient cost. Not every baked product gives you a profit, and the Blueberry Muffin, for example, currently has a listed profit of -15 using the guide’s calculation.

At the same time, some recipes can give you useful bonuses while still making a decent amount of Petals. So, I wouldn’t look at selling price alone when deciding what to bake.

More recipes may be added as the baking system is explored further, so I’ll keep this list updated as more baked goods, ingredients, and profit values are discovered.
