The Legend of Khiimori Beginner Guide Wiki – Controls

Hey everyone. Since The Legend of Khiimori just came out today, I figured it would be helpful to write a quick guide going over the basic controls. A lot of players might jump in and immediately feel a little confused about what buttons do what.

The main reason I’m putting this together is because the game currently doesn’t have a keybinds section in the settings, so unless you experiment or stumble across things by accident, some controls might not be obvious right away.

So here are the basic controls that I’ve found so far while playing.

Basics About The Legend Of Khiimori

This section covers the simple controls that you’ll be using most of the time while moving around and interacting with the world.

Movement

The standard movement keys work exactly how you’d expect.

  • W – Walk forward
  • A – Move to the left
  • S – Walk backwards
  • D – Move to the right

If you prefer using arrow keys instead, those also work the same way and control movement just like WASD.

Movement Speed

You also have a couple of keys that control your speed while moving around.

  • Shift – Speeds you up
  • Ctrl – Slows you down

Another way to adjust speed is by using your mouse scroll wheel, which can also increase or decrease your movement speed.

Jumping

  • Space – Jump

Pretty simple one, but you’ll definitely be using it while moving around different terrain.

Horse Controls

Since horses are such an important part of the game, there are a few controls specifically related to them.

  • F – Mount or dismount your horse
  • Q – Care for your horse when it’s nearby

If your horse is far away, pressing Q will instead whistle for your horse so it comes to you.

Interactions and Menus

There are several keys used for interacting with characters and opening different menus.

  • E – Interact with NPCs and items
  • I – Open or close your inventory
  • C – Open the crafting menu
  • O – Open your horse menu
  • M – Open the map

These are the keys you’ll probably use the most while playing.

Objective Display

  • Tab – Toggles your main objective on or off

This simply controls whether your current objective is displayed on screen.

Interface Controls

There are also a couple of function keys that control parts of the game interface.

  • F1 – Opens the in-game bug reporting system
  • F10 – Toggles the in-game UI

Turning the UI off can be useful if you want a cleaner screen.

Bow and Repellent Controls

You can also switch between using your bow or a repellent item.

  • 1 – Toggle between bow and repellent

The mouse buttons control how you use the bow.

  • Hold Left Mouse Button – Aim the bow
  • Hold Right Mouse Button – Aim the bow with an arrow ready
  • Release Left Mouse Button – Put the bow away
  • Release Right Mouse Button – Fire the arrow

Map Waypoints

Most of the map features are explained directly inside the game, but there is one useful thing worth mentioning.

You can place your own checkpoints on the map.

To do that:

  • Hold Shift + Right Click to place a waypoint
  • Left Click to remove a waypoint

This is helpful when you want to mark a location you’re planning to travel to.

That’s pretty much all of the basic controls I’ve found so far while playing The Legend of Khiimori. Since the game just launched today, there might be other controls or changes added later, but hopefully this helps anyone who might feel a bit lost while getting started.
