This Wild Terra 2 New Lands Beginner Guide walks you through the entire boat tutorial in Wild Terra 2: New Lands. The ship section acts as a controlled introduction to core mechanics such as quests, combat, crafting, interactions, and companions. Once you leave the boat, you can never return, so understanding everything here gives you a strong early advantage.
Wild Terra 2 New Lands Beginner Guide – Quest, Ship Tips
When your character first loads, three things immediately matter:
- Your character
- A yellow-highlighted object on the ground
- The quest tracker on the right side of the screen
The quest tracker is your main guide during the tutorial. Always read it carefully, as it explains exactly what the game expects you to do next.
Important default keys to remember early:
- I – Inventory
- U – Equipment
- C – Craft & Build
- K – Skills
- N – Actions / Emotes
- J – Journal
The Journal is especially important later, as it provides long-term bonuses for reaching certain milestones. For now, just know where it is.
Movement can be done by clicking with the left mouse button or using WASD.
First Quest – Picking Up Your Clothes
Your first objective is simple: pick up the scattered clothes highlighted on the ground.
You can do this in two ways:
- Left-click the item
- Hover over it and press E
Once picked up, the quest tracker updates and a “Complete Quest” button appears at the bottom of the screen.
Open the quest menu with Q and finalize the quest by clicking Complete.
Second Quest – Equipping Your Gear
Next, the game teaches you equipment management.
Open your inventory (I) and equip the clothes you just picked up. You can:
- Double-click the item
- Or single-click it and choose Equip from the menu
Hovering over items shows their stats. In this case, the clothes provide a small defense bonus, introducing the concept of gear-based stats.
Once equipped, the quest completes automatically.
Third Quest – Talking to Ciba (Old Ship Cook)
Exit the room and look for an NPC with a question mark above his head. This is Ciba, the ship’s cook.
You may notice your character moving slowly. This is due to a status effect, visible near your health bar in the top-left corner. Hovering over status icons shows detailed explanations.
Interact with Ciba by clicking him or pressing E, then progress through the dialogue by selecting “What happened?”
Complete the quest through the quest menu.
Fourth Quest – Drunken Bragging
Accept the next quest from Ciba.
On the table beside him, you will see a highlighted knife. Pick it up, equip it, and then right-click anywhere to perform an attack action.
Return to Ciba and turn in the quest.
Fifth Quest – Healing Ingredient
Accept the new quest from Ciba.
Behind him is a highlighted warehouse door. Enter it and attack the rat inside using right-click. You can either click repeatedly or hold the button to keep attacking.
After killing the rat, click its body to skin it.
Return to Ciba and complete the quest.
Next Quest – Hangover Remedy
After accepting the next quest, a boiling pot near Ciba becomes usable.
Interact with the pot. This introduces processing stations, which work on timers. The pot takes a few seconds per cycle and has a scroll icon that shows possible recipes.
You are tasked with crafting a Hellish Mixture using the items in your inventory. Transfer items by dragging them or using Shift + Click.
Once crafted:
- Take the mixture
- Use it from your inventory
- Turn in the quest to Ciba
Accept the next quest.
Quest Seven – One Good Turn Deserves Another
North of Ciba is a highlighted lever. Pulling it opens a door further north.
Go through the door. It will shut behind you.
Inside, pick up the highlighted firewood on the ground and complete the quest via the quest menu.
A new quest, Under Arrest, starts automatically.
Under Arrest and Escape
In the same room, a hatchet is highlighted. Pick it up.
Two walls are highlighted. Chop down the wall next to the hatchet. You may also chop the second wall if you wish.
Complete the quest from the quest menu.
The next quest, To Freedom!, begins automatically. The stairs are now highlighted.
Climb the stairs to exit the hold. This area becomes permanently inaccessible after leaving.
Out of the Hold – Fresh Air
Once outside, head west and talk to Hope, the boatswain.
Complete the Fresh Air quest and accept Magic Night.
The game now teaches emotes. Open the action menu with N and use the Wave emote on Ellie, as indicated by the quest.
Turn in the quest and accept Vain Expectations.
Meeting Steers and Gale
Walk southwest down the stairs, cross the boat, then go up two more sets of stairs to reach Steers at the helm.
Talk to Steers, complete the quest, and accept Confusion.
Return downstairs and stand in front of Gale. Open the action menu and use the Begging emote as instructed.
Turn in the quest and accept Judgment.
Slender Hope and Meeting Ben
Head back north to Hope.
Complete Judgment, accept Slender Hope, then go downstairs behind Hope.
Move east to find Ben.
Turn in the quest and accept Avid Fisherman.
Avid Fisherman – Sharks, Bombs, and Companions
This quest introduces bombs and animal companions.
Pick up the bombs near Ben and throw them at sharks by equipping the bombs and right-clicking on a shark.
Before leaving the boat, there is an important optional tip.
There are three seagulls on the ship that can be caught, tamed, and used as companions for easy experience.
Key creature behavior types:
- Passive (green): flee immediately
- Neutral (orange): react when attacked
- Aggressive (red): attack on sight
Seagulls are passive, so they can be caught without damaging them.
Your action bar already contains the Catch Animal or Bird action, bound to 0. Chase a seagull, slightly overshoot it, and use the catch action. Pinning them against walls can also help.
Taming the Seagull
Once caught, the seagull appears in your inventory.
Near the southeast corner of the ship, find a bucket of worms next to a fisherman. Click it three times to collect worms.
Feed a worm to each seagull by double-clicking it. This tames the bird.
Equip a seagull, then click its icon under your character portrait to summon it. While active, it gains experience from your kills.
Now kill sharks using bombs. Your seagull will gain levels during this process.
Complete the quest at Ben and accept The Risky Way.
The Risky Way – Crafting Sailcloth Wings
Return upstairs to the area near Steers.
At the top of the stairs, open the highlighted crate to obtain spare sails.
Press C to open crafting. The recipe for Sailcloth Wings will appear automatically.
Craft the item, then return to Ben and complete the quest.
Accept the final quest: Fly!
Leaving the Ship
Next to Ben is a highlighted catapult.
Interact with it to launch yourself off the ship and complete the tutorial.
Once this happens, the boat tutorial is finished permanently.
The ship tutorial teaches nearly every core system in Wild Terra 2 in a safe environment. Taking time to tame seagulls, understand crafting stations, and learn creature behavior gives you a noticeable advantage once you reach the mainland.
