Welcome to Border Pioneer Guide Wiki & Walkthorugh, a deckbuilding tower defence city-builder, where today I’m going to be showing you the basics of the game, and how to keep your city alive.
In the beginning of every game, we are going to place down our town hall, with the circle being its attack range.
Once placed we can now meet the herald. He will give us quests later on in the game as well as rewards, but to start with, we are going to open our starter pack. This will give us all the fundamentals for our kingdom, such as food, production, and military.
So let’s get our food production sorted. For this we’ll be using farmland, which adds +4 to our food.
For production we’ll be using logging camps, which is a +2 for every tree tile surrounding it.
To increase our population we can use houses. This will increase our population by 5 at the cost of 1 food per turn.
As you’ve probably noticed, there are two portals down here. These are where enemies are going to come from at the end of each month. So let’s place down our barracks, which will summon two guards every night. Once we reach enough production in the future, we can upgrade this for many different effects.
Let’s place down our tower, and move our guards into position.
With this, we can end our first turn. Every month is split into two turns, and at the end of every turn we lose or gain the resources at the top.
Welcome to the caravan. Every 2-4 turns we are approached with a marketplace, where not only can we buy and sell resources, but special cards that we can also re-roll with food to discover more cards for our kingdom. For now, let’s buy the market card. This gives us +6 food a turn, while also adding future discounts to the caravan.
With the civic tab, any house that we place next to the market will receive +1 extra food production per turn. Since we have leftover food, let’s place down some extra logging camps for some more production.
This is it, the month has ended, and this is our first battle. This is where we’ll find out if we’ve truly made enough defences for our kingdom. With the ten orcs heading our way through the two portals, I’m going to position our troops slightly closer so we can stop them before they get close.
With that we have completed Month 1 of our journey, but trust me it gets a lot harder, and a lot more epic.
This has been a look into the beginning of Border Pioneer. There is so much more to see, from 10 amazing individual characters to play, hordes of enemies to slay, and of course bosses to eliminate. Just make sure to build some beautiful towns along the way, and I hope you enjoy your time in Border Pioneer.
