As part of his presidential reelection campaign, President Donald Trump has made an official Twitch channel where he live streamed his rally in Minneapolis last night.
At the time of writing, President Trump currently has 33,000 followers and over 140,000 channel views. His rally last night had over 13,000 viewers.
On Twitch, his chat was heavily ‘trolled’ with people spamming text and emotes.
If you haven’t heard of Twitch, it is a live streaming platform that mainly focuses on gaming content. Twitch is currently owned by Amazon and millions of people use the service everyday. Anyone can watch or stream on Twitch and its popularity continues to grow everyday.
Although it may seem stranger for Trump to be using a gaming platform for streaming, it is not. In fact, many political candidates are now using the sevice for their own benefit.
The funny thing is, Trump has heavily criticised Amazon in the past, especially during his original election. But now he is using an Amazon product to reach new people.
“Amazon is getting away with murder, tax-wise, He’s using The Washington Post for power. So that the politicians in Washington don’t tax Amazon like they should be taxed… and what they’ve done is he bought this paper for practically nothing. And he’s using that as a tool for political power against me and against other people. And I’ll tell you what: We can’t let him get away with it.”
